1518. M32 Cycle path (16)

This is an interesting burner from Soak in the quiet derelict area sandwiched between the M32 and Stapleton Road. It was part of the cycle route, but it has been closed off while some development works are being carried out.

Soak’s piece uses a fun theme of exploding his name with fragments falling off in all directions. There is movement in the piece and he seems to have spent a little more tome on this than on some of his other burners. Overall I rather like it.

1478. The Bearpit (144)

In recent months I have become aware of a tag appearing all over the place, that is better than your average tag, and of course being a fish it gets my seal of approval. I have no idea who it is by, but I think they might belong to DBK crew, as those letters are never too far away.

The first of four tags was in The Bearpit not too long ago. Lots of drug references here.

I am not too sure what the letters spell, but to me it looks like ‘SOA’ and then I guess it is possible that the tail fin is also a letter.

As with all tags, the graffiti artist has got the consistency down to a T and can probably run one off pretty swiftly.

As I am writing this, It occurs to me that the whole thing says SOAK, and that the fish tail does form a letter, the letter K. Soak is a graffiti artist in Bristol who I featured not too long ago. It all makes sense now.

1431. Moon Street (44)

There are a great many graffiti artists in Bristol that I don’t feature in the pages of this blog. Some are not up to scratch, some are extremely elusive and some have a bit of an attitude. However, as their work develops over time, it becomes impossible to not start to write about them. Soak is one such case.

I have been aware of Soak’s work for a while and have several of his walls in my archive, but this is one that stands out for me as moving up a level. The fill and patterns are sophisticated and a lot of thought has gone into its production. Soak often inverts his ‘A’ but has used other tricks to reverse or invert letters. There is a Soak graffiti artist from Oxford who was jailed for Tagging and drug dealing, but I am not sure if this is the same one. The styles look a little different, so I am guessing this one is not the same. Soak is a member of the DBK crew.
