The master of pink, slightly grotesque body parts strikes again, this time in Dean Lane. Yes, its Stupid Stupid Meathole, the artist with the best name and some of the most unusual creations on the streets of Bristol.

This appears to be an assemblage of faces with rather phallic noses and some stitches thrown in for good measure. I think SSM has an extraordinarily creative mind, I mean these things are slightly odd aren’t they? I really love finding his work, which can be difficult because he doesn’t paint all that often and tends to spread his work about the place a bit. All good in my book though.

I don’t often post pieces that have been badly dogged but I make an exception with this piece by Stupid Stupid Meathole because I don’t see much of his work about the place and get rather excited when I do see one.

I certainly wasn’t looking for this little gem when I found it walking the dog around Montpelier. I think it was painted at the same time as the Tasha Bee piece directly to the right of it. There is always room in my blog for his rather grotesque organic pieces.

1743. Dean Lane skate park (168)

The first thing that grabs your attention about this work is probably the bright pink colour, characteristic of the artist Stupid Stupid Meathole. Next is the faintly grotesque character/monster of the piece, but equally memorable is the fantastic name that the artist has chosen. Always distinct and always eye-catching.

I haven’t posted too much of Stupid Stupid Meathole’s work, because it only appears on the streets occasionally. If I see it I will always snap it and post it because I am rather strangely drawn to it. SSM never disappoints, but may shock a little and might not be to everyone’s taste. I however am a bit of a fan as it is always great to see something a bit different…a bit imaginative.

This is an old one in Dean Lane skater park from Stupid Stupid Meathole, which I didn’t post at the time because I didn’t know who it was by.  He creates these potentially sinister monsters, but takes away any menace by adding something comical to them. His characters actually become rather sweet really – it must be those big eyes.

I do like his work. He chooses his colours well and I like then way he scribbles his shading, for example on the teeth of this monster, which give ther whole thing a sense of animation. I’m always on the look out for his work and I think I have some in my archives which I’ll try and dig out.

Another first…there seem to be an awful lot of artists making their debut on my blog recently, I don’t know whether there is a new intake of artists in Bristol or whether I have just started to notice them more (probably a bit of both). Actually this is not the first work I have seen from Stupid Stupid Meathole, but it is the first one since I knew who he was. Keep your eyes peeled for more from the archive.

Firstly, I love this artist’s name even it if is a little long-winded, secondly, I really like his monsters and his rather unconventional style. This piece I think is called ‘wet fart’ (which makes me chortle in a childish way) and taking a closer look, you can see why. I look forward to more peaces in Dean Lane from Stupid Stupid Meathole.
