Doors 361 – Doors of Shrewsbury (part XI) – August 2025
I expect you’ll be relieved to hear, and indeed I am quite excited, that this is the penultimate Thursday Doors post featuring doors of Shrewsbury. What a town! So many doors in so many styles, it would have been a crime not to share them, however I am looking forward to moving on to something fresh.
This week’s selection is made up mostly of town house doors of the English Baroque, Georgian and Victorian eras, and rather beautiful some of them are too. I hope you enjoy them.

I have a favourite in this selection, but rather than make you guess, I’ll tell you it is the red door with the mural next to it (quelle surprise!).
May I wish you all a very happy weekend when it comes round.
If you have made it this far, you probably like doors, and you really ought to take a look at the No Facilities blog by Dan Anton who has taken over the hosting of Thursday Doors from Norm 2.0 blog. Links to more doorscursions can be found in the comments section of Dan Anton’s weekly Thursday Doors post and his Sunday recap.

Another delightful selection from Shrewsbury

These are great photos/doors. I like the one you like. The mural adds quite a lot to that entrance. I really like the last one, with the access (perhaps a coal chute from years past) under the entrance stairs. I don’t recall ever seeing a wooden awning set below the transom light. That’s an interesting combination. I’m trying to figure out how that came to be.
I’ve enjoyed your stop in Shrewsbury very much. I hope you have a lovely weekend.

A delightful photo visit to Shrewsbury. Thank you, Stephen. I like that mural on the perhaps ghost door… What a brilliant idea for ghost doors everywhere…a mural. Love the green door with the white railing and the art on the porch ceiling. Re: That stripped and varnished door is a beauty, and I am not sure that I have seen a window quite like the one above that door awning…but I like it.
Great share. Shrewsbury has a lot to offer indoors.

While I look forward to seeing what your next set of doors will be, I’ve been loving the Shrewsbury visit. Far from getting tedious! Like you and others, I think the mural/door is great.
