The quality and diversity of pieces painted at this year’s Lucky Lane paint jam have been fantastic, and I hope that after two years, this event becomes an annual celebration of street art in Bristol. This is a beautifully presented piece from Ellen Forbes Art, with the philosophical banner ‘ The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit’.

The scene is a fantastical one, featuring two characters with painted faces and wearing ‘wooly bear’ hoodies with large horns, signifying what I don’t know. One is digging and looking fed up, the other enjoying a large basket of oranges. Along the bottom are a series of seeds, seedlings, saplings and a tree, indicating the passage of time. I think the character is the same person, having patience to reap their rewards. This is a fabulous storytelling piece – one of my favourites in Lucky Lane this year.
