Public sector cuts
diminish the services
we take for granted.

I work in the public sector and with the UK election in full swing I thought I would start to voice my thoughts through haiku. It isn’t just health and education (which are reasonably well protected) it is all the other public services we should be worried about. Especially when it comes to the environment.
Tender violet
drawing early Summer bees
with hands by your face.

or a swarm of sea urchins
Spring caterpillar.

Skeleton of lace
once vigorous verdant leaf
intricate patterns.

Miniature garden
there is so much we don’t see
because we don’t look.

An arranged marriage
of wrought iron and living wood
finding harmony.

Vibrant tricolor
and flanking golden flashes
majestic goldfinch

Delicate petals
an ephemeral beacon
softly heralds Spring

When we are long gone
you will inherit the Earth
take good care of it

In green olive groves
concealed by the dappled shade
menacing presence.
