Minto has been out and about quite a lot this year, which is great to see, and recently he has turned out a couple of pieces on a black background, of which this is one, that introduce a whole new aspect to his work, bringing in all sorts of opportunities for contrasting colours.

The letters, heavily disguised, spell MINTO, and they are heavily augmented with colours, lines and shapes that almost give a ‘firework’ appearance to the piece. I can see at least two ephemeral characters in the piece, a bird’s head in the centre, and a head at the top right. There is so much to look at and discover i this fine piece of graffiti writing.

7595. Dean Lane skate park (912)

Wes, Dean Lane, Bristol, April 2026

Of course, having only first met Wes a month or two back, I haven’t quite worked since been finding his pieces everywhere, both old and new. This one is tucked away on the swimming pool wall behind a hedge and railing.

This is a very bold piece heavily filled with black paint and incorporating flashes of red and yellow. It is quite unusual to see work quite so heavily dominated with black paint, but Wes gets away with it here by including a white drop shadow and contrasting blue/turquoise backdrop. Interesting piece from Wes.

4020. Cumberland Basin

Well this is a real beauty from alien specialist Nugmoose down in Cumberland Basin. All in black and embellished with bright colourful flowers, this five-eyed alien is difficult to ignore, and plays to all of Nugmoose’s quirky strengths.

Nothing lasts very long on this wall, so I was very pleased to get pictures of this one before it was painted over. No signature required from this artist, because his style and content is fairly recognisable, but just in case there is doubt, the alien script, in this instance on the character’s forehead, is a dead give away. An enjoyable piece from Nugmoose.
