Clearly very excited about the release of the recent Star Wars movie (and who wouldn’t be?), it would appear that Soker, who usually writes his name, may have been inspired to spray this R2D2 piece. It is possible there is more to it than that, but it matters not, this is a brilliant clean piece.

On one of the feature walls at Dean Lane, this piece works beautifully, the proportions are all nicely done and the colours assembled well. The piece also generated some good banter on his Instagram account with his stablemates Cheo and Voyder (Darth Voyder).
What a lovely Christmas present from Mr Draws. He sprayed this enormous chrome burner just before Christmas Day and what is difficult to convey is its size. It is an impressive and fun piece.

It is so good to have a regular feed of Mr Draws pieces, which he finds time to spray, in between woking in his studio on his mountains. I love this bloke.
It is always a pleasure to see a piece in progress and, if you are lucky enough, to see it again once completed. This was one such work by Ugar, our very own Hungarian Maestro.

I am really interested in seeing how he layers his work and that in common with many other writers, he starts with draft outline letters and then fills in the background before filling the letters. This feels counter-intuitive to me…being a non-artist, I would simply slap the background down first and then work up from there…this is one of the reasons why I am not out there spraying (apart from an utter absence of talent).

The final piece of wildstyle writing is exquisite and all the more admirable for being worked onto the pre-existing colourful piece beneath it. I must confess that I had come to photograph the Erase piece that Ugar sprayed over, and was a little disappointed initially. That was until I saw the final product. I am looking forward to seeing more from Ugar in 2018.
What a lovely big smile in Dean Lane, from an artist called Luke Petty (Instagram @lukesmile91). It is a nice big bold piece and has similarities to the work of Pref 1D without the wordplay element.

I have not been able to find out much about the artist other than that it seems he is British but has been travelling in Australia. Since doing this piece in Bristol and an earlier one in Shoreditch, it appears he has done one in Sydney, Australia. So I am guessing that he is back down under again.
At the time of writing (three or four days ago) this piece was still there and in pristine condition, where all around it has changed.A mark of respect.
I would never have expected to see this line up in a collaboration, but this is the great thing about the Bristol scene, you should never expect anything, just get out there and take a look. It is a full wall at Deaners by Hire, Drew Copus and Jee See.

On the left we seen the jaggedy gothic style of writing we expect from Hire. I am not too sure, but I think the symmetrical looking writing says HIRE. The piece almost looks like is has caught fire and on the right it blends into the second part of this collaboration.

The middle piece is by Drew Copus, who lives near Hastings, but seems to come to Bristol once or twice a year to spray some of his stencils. In this collaboration he has sprayed three bright female stencil figures, each rather peculiar, which is what makes them rather interesting. It would be nice to know a little more about these figures.

On the right hand end of the collaboration is a huge SEISMIC piece from our very own Jee See. It is always great to see his work in Bristol, and I have several pictures of his work sitting in my files waiting to be published. As I said before this seems like quite an unlikely threesome. Maybe they know each other, or maybe they all just turned up in Dean Lane skate park on the same day.
A very quick seasonal piece from Biers. I was lucky enough to come across the artist while he was spraying this piece, but all was not well. The walls were damp and the blue paint hadn’t really properly obscured the graffiti behind it, and it wasn’t drying, which made spraying rather difficult.

There are a few things going on here – the christmas pudding appears to spell out NFS, which might be short for ‘no frills’ a phrase used by Biers in his works. There is deliberate ambiguity here where the pudding might also spell out ‘Noel’.

Even though Biers was quite unhappy with the whole thing, I rather like it, and it is always nice to see these festive pieces. He told me that it is a shortened version of a larger piece that he has an ambition to do. I won’t spoil the surprise, just on case he ever gets time to do the full thing.
Now that I have recently broken the ice with Ugar I feel I can post another of his works, which pre-dates his collaboration with Kid Crayon. This is a large piece which he sprayed alongside NEVERGIVEUP back in October.

It is a piece of two sections. On the left is his name UGAR bookended with a cat? and a dog and on the right a little scene being sprayed by the dog. I have noticed that Ugar likes to fill his lettering with a marbled effect, which works well and is unusual and organic.

The scene in green shades on the right is mysterious and dreamy and quite unlike his writing to the left of it. The green skulls add a slightly dark tone to this lighthearted piece, but they are contiguous with the other green clouds surrounding the whole piece.

Finally, Ugar has thrown in a whole bunch of fish bones filling the empty spaces…I’m not sure what that is all about. There is a story in this piece somewhere. On the far right he has sprayed what looks like ‘I love cats’, but it might be something else. I am guessing he is being mischievous.
A recent piece from Mr Draws at Dean Lane skate park. I am glad that he is out there spraying again because his work always brings a smile to my face. He plays with simple ideas and and works them up in a unique style. There is nobody quite like Mr Draws.

I still don’t think he is spraying as much as he was earlier on in the year, and it seems like ages since I last bumped into him…I think it was at Upfest. It will be interesting to see if the cold weather will slow down the turnover of street art in Bristol…a part of me hopes so as my backlog of pictures is huge.
A wonderful recent piece on the long wall at Dean Lane by three of Bristol’s very best street/graffiti artists, 3Dom, Soker and Cheo from the ASK stable. I think that this might have been another Halloween collaboration – they have been very popular this year.

First off, on the left is a curious surreal house/shed/kennel with something swirly going on in the middle. 3Dom always has this dream like imagination that presents the familiar combined with the bizarre. The dripping house and shadow underneath are very nice touches to this piece. Great to see 3Dom being more visible on the streets again after a gap of several months.

I suspect that regular readers will be very familiar by now with the writing of Soker (text says SOKEM) or at least if you are not, where have you been? His writing is always of a high quality and I have rarely been disappointed.

Finally, rounding off the collaboration is a wonderful homage to ‘Freddy Krueger’ by Cheo, complete with razor fingers, stripy t-shirt and a pumpkin face. This is a fun piece that really stands out…it is a pity that there is a bit of glare on the photograph. Most annoying.

All in all this was a nice halloween surprise for me in this spot which I regularly visit. Great work from the boys.
There are some unusual colour selections in this nice collaborative pairing of Soge and Hire down at Deaners.The deep blue and maroon backdrop certainly lift the wildstyle writing of Soge, but Hire’s rabbit on the right is a little disguised.

I have said it before on this blog that Soge has an incredibly elaborate Gothic style of wildstyle writing which is quite unusual. I have absolutely no idea what the writing says in this piece, it might be ‘SOGEJEDEN’ which is his Instagram tag. I don’t know.
