I think that this might be the third piece of graffiti writing by Avem808 that I have posted on Natural Adventures, and I am really liking what I see from the artist. There is an intricacy blended with fluidity about this piece that plays with the eyes.

I am not entirely sure what the letters spell. I’d like to believe it says AVEM, but I think that there is more to it than that. It is a wonderful tribute piece to a departed friend, Frank, and painted with heart and soul. The colours fit into that ‘fruit salad’ palette (a popular sweet of my childhood, and partner to Black Jacks) and make for an upbeat and joyful piece. There is lots of detail, and it is one of those pieces that deserves a long viewing time.

This is yet another colourful outburst of joy and movement from Grimes, and a piece to enjoy and savour. Grimes has been smashing it with every piece he paints, and Bristol spots are without a doubt more colourful places when one of his pieces is present.

The three dimensional effect that Grimes creates in his work is outstanding, and this whole thing has the appearance of bursting out from the wall towards the viewer. Such is the energy in the piece it almost feels like an animation. The ‘fruit salad’ colours are beautifully distributed throughout the writing (Spelling GRIMES), and are set on a watery blue background, which is also full of swirling movement. In my eyes, this is a masterpiece of wildstyle writing.

4975. St Werburghs tunnel (342)

Dott Rotten is without doubt one of the best writers in Bristol, although he is just one artist in a very strong field. This beautiful ‘spoilt’ piece is filled with fruit salad colours, transitioning sweetly between the letters, with characteristic detailing and supreme finishing with clean lines and edges.

The whole piece contrasts perfectly with the blue background of clouds and bubbles. To the right hand edge is the word Jelly, although I have no idea what this refers to. As with so many of Dott Rotten’s pieces, it is extra large, and took up the space of at least two typical pieces you might find in the tunnel. More magnificent work from the maestro.
