Haiku 1

A butterfly comes

we all gaze on in wonder

iridescent wings.

  • This was the first ever haiku I wrote. It was in honour of my mother on her 80th birthday 10 years ago. I had flu at the time and that period coincided with the birth of Natural Adventures. I used the haiku to open my speech at her party last night, so I thought I would share it again here today.

    • Last night was a sweet moment for Arsenal fans, with the team beating the premiership champions 5-1. It was extra sweet, because the last meeting was a fiery affair, with an Arsenal player sent off in the first half with Arsenal leading 2-1. Manchester City grabbed an equaliser in the last minute of the game, and Erling Haaland (a Manchester City player and most prolific goalscorer in the world) was recorded saying ‘stay humble eh’ to Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal Manager at the end of the game. These are words that will follow and haunt Haaland for the rest of his career. Stupid boy.
