I photographed this piece on the day I first met Runaway Joey, or Asre as he signs himself. He was painting another face only yards away from this one. We stopped for quite a long chat, and I was touched to find out that he not only knew who I was but also had been chatting with his friends about me and what I do, later describing me as a ‘top bloke’ in an Instagram post later that day. It is so gratifying to know that that some of the artists I write about have read this blog and appreciate what I do here. For the record, Asre is a really decent guy who made plenty of time for a chat about his work. I look forward to meeting him again.
This wall used to ‘belong’ to Laic217, and is one of my favourite walls in Bristol (definitely a candidate for my ‘one wall, many faces’ series of posts). The face from Asre is rather more elaborate than some that he paints, with rather scary teeth, a green face and a magnificent crown. There is something menacing and slightly evil about this piece, which also introduces some different elements to the typical format Asre uses for this series. There is so much more to post from Asre, I am struggling to know where to begin. I have some much better photographs of this and will try to replace these when I have a moment.
3837. St Werburghs tunnel (250)
Here we have another outstanding piece from that man Sepr painted as part of the funday Sunday paint jam in the tunnel a couple of weekends ago. There are so many memorable pieces from this event that it would take me a long while to get them all written up. I have selected a few, and the rest will have to wait for a while or longer.
Sepr has really smashed it with this amusing piece in which a king character is preparing to sit down on a throne, and a little mouse is either being a loyal subject and placing the chair under the king, or is being mischievous and removing said chair. I wonder if the golden character is a reference to Goldie who had made the journey to Bristol to join in with the paint jam. A fun piece.

2693. St Werburghs tunnel (131)
This is just the kind of collaboration that I absolutely love, and that one of the artists is Kid Crayon makes it a whole lot better. The other artist, I am Ian (Ian Moore) is new to me, and I understand from his Instagram account hasn’t painted a wall for five or six years.
The tunnel in St Werburghs has been a very busy venue for artists this autumn/winter, I suspect because we have had so much wet weather for such a long time.
On the left of the collaboration is a snoozing king by Kid Crayon, complete with orb and sceptre, and large bags of money.
While the king snoozes, a naughty goblin-like wannabe king is making off with some stolen cash and the crown, leaving behind a mischievous fart cloud in his wake. I rather like this character and if this is anything to go by, I can’t wait for I Am Ian to hit a few more walls this year. The whole thing is a witty story beautifully portrayed, and everything I look for in a piece of street art. I salute you KC and IM. Turn the letters around and you have a new crew name MICK!
