Joe Greenaway s not an artist I know much about at all, so I went to his Instagram account to see if I could find out more. I didn’t find much, but I did discover that this paint jam arranged by Mind 49 was organised to raise funds for @thegrandappeal Children’s Hospital Charity. Further searches on the Interweb revealed that Joe Greenaway is an up-and-coming artist from St Ives in Cornwall (a place with a rich artistic heritage).

The stunning greyscale portrait piece features a woman with a date ‘1958’, and I wonder if it might be a relative of the artist. Alongside the stunning portrait is a superb reference to Bristol in the form of balloons drifting over the Clifton Suspension Bridge. This is a beautiful piece that deserves to be shouted about. Oh, and damn the car!

Jimmer Wilmott, Knowle West, Bristol, July 2025
Jimmer Wilmott, Knowle West, Bristol, July 2025

In recent years, Jimmer Wilmott has turned his focus away from his zany surreal pieces and towards his equally zany alphabetti spaghetti work, which are really cleverly painted, but (speaking as someone who is phobic of tinned spaghetti in tomato sauce) slightly yucky.

I imagine that this piece is a private commission, because it is in somebody’s backyard, and I had to stand on tiptoes with my phone fully stretched above my head to take the photographs. I’m not sure that I’d want this in my garden, but each to his own. The letters picked out in this piece spell FAMILY, and in a way, that is rather touching. Jimmer rarely produces subtle pieces, and this is a country mile away from subtle.

Jody, Knowle West, Bristol, July 2025
Jody, Knowle West, Bristol, July 2025

The collection of artists gathered together for the Knowle West paint jam was really out of the top draw, bringing together a variety of Bristol styles and one or two visitors too. This is a stunner from the outstanding Jody.

The only downside to this fabulous new spot is that there are quite a lot of cars to navigate around, and being a residential area, I can’t imagine there being a time when there won’t be parked cars. Some wide-angle shots partially overcome this problem, but not entirely.

Jody has painted a gorgeous portrait piece of a woman with a wonderful feather headdress. There is a calm, ethereal feel to the piece which clearly brings out Jody’s amazing talent. A very fine piece indeed.

Mudra, Knowle West, Bristol, July 2025
Mudra, Knowle West, Bristol, July 2025

I haven’t seen anything from Mudra for an age, so it was so good to find this piece as part of the extraordinary paint jam in this sleepy cul-de-sac in Knowle West. Unfortunately, the parked cars presented a bit of a photography challenge, but I think I just about got away with it.

Mudra has spelled out his name in his distinctive style of treating each letter as a discrete ‘mini-piece’ that when combined all come together very nicely. Lots of colour, and the character face on the letter D has something very special and quite chilling about it. I hope this signals a return to the streets for Mudra.

Daz Cat, Knowle West, Bristol, July 2025
Daz Cat, Knowle West, Bristol, July 2025

The first piece that you see as you approach this Knowle West spot is a wonderful combination work by Daz Cat, who has been flirting with mixing his famous cat characters with portrait pieces, and the result is something quite ‘dazzling’.

The portrait of a woman with a blue face is sandwiched between two charming orange cats, it looks like a boy and girl cat. What is also great to see is the iconic Clifton suspension bridge making it into the piece, something that a uniquely Bristol kind of thing to do. Note to self: do a special gallery post on Clifton suspension bridge pieces. Just thinking about it… it is odd that it is always referred to as the Clifton suspension bridge, and rarely, if ever, as the Clifton bridge. Wonderful work from Daz Cat.

Mind 49 and Wxttsart, Knowle West, Bristol, July 2025
Mind 49 and Wxttsart, Knowle West, Bristol, July 2025

I believe that it was Mind 49 who was responsible for organising this paint jam in a sleepy close in Knowle West, and he certainly managed to assemble some great talent to decorate these suburban walls. In this amazing portrait piece he has collaborated with Wxttsart (Milk), although it is difficult to know which bits the latter contributed to, perhaps the sign of a true collaboration.

The portrait itself is clearly the work of Mind 49, whose subjects are often in natural poses, as if caught off-guard, and their faces often partially obscured, in this case with a hat and sunglasses. Pure class is how I would describe the piece. I believe that Wxttsart’s contribution is to the right-hand side, with the abstract designs and ‘rips’ through the piece. Certainly the end result is a winning combination, and a stunning addition to the house.

I knew that there has been a paint jam somewhere in South Bristol recently, but I had no idea where. Then along came John Bennett who occasionally reads this blog and sent me the location. Even then, it took me a while to find this treasure trove, but it was well worth persevering to locate the quiet little side street.

This collaboration from Pekoe and SPZero76 is the first of several posts from this little backwater. Pekoe’s portrait is notable for the cat perched on the woman’s head and the inclusion of shoulders and upper torso, which is so often missing in Pekoe’s work. SPZero76 has painted one of his crazy raccoons, which includes a little cat sitting on a cloud of spray paint. I love the contrast in their comments too. Pekoe’s earnest ‘fund art not war’ contrasting with SPZero76’s rather hilarious ‘read more comics’. Such is the diversity of the street art community.
