When Logoe hits town, he tends to hit it pretty hard. When this collaborative piece was painted earlier in the month, I think it might have been a one-off, because I didn’t find any other pieces in all the spots he usually decorates so freely. It is a collaboration with Nova, about whom I know absolutely nothing, but it is a beauty nonetheless.

More often than not Logoe writes with thin script letters, but he has switched things up in this piece of graffiti writing with great big fat chrome letters with a bold solid black drop shadow. The whole piece is very neat and tidy and well presented on a red cloudy background. Of course, there is a sprinkling of small oval dots running through the piece, just in case we weren’t sure it was by Logoe.

Nova has painted letters using the same colour scheme, and also incorporated little ovals, although arranged a little more orderly than Logoe’s. Another cross-reference feature is the yellow ‘o’ in both pieces.  Nova’s writing is also nicely presented, and I am intrigued to know more about the artist, but that might need to wait until the next time I bump into Logoe. A fine collaboration an a favourite wall.

When Logoe comes to Bristol from Wales where he lives, he tends to paint in the Eastville spots, so I imagine that he has friends who he can stay with in the area. This piece from a recent visit was painted underneath the M32 motorway, a spot that I don’t visit all that often because it is quite tricky to do with the dog.

This piece, which has not photographed very well because of the light conditions, follows the classic Logoe formula. Some decent script writing, nicely filled and bordered, set on a contrasting background and sprinkled with oval spots. I think that brighter colours might have suited the spot better, but remains a fine piece of graffiti writing.

A little while back, Logoe hit town again with another rash of wonderful script writing. This time, I wasn’t so quick to get all the pieces, and they tend not to last too long – perhaps a feature of the spots he chooses, but this one I did snap up, and it is a bit of a beauty.

Once again, Logoe has written his name in a script style, although this time the letters are a little plumper and kinder than usual. There is a bit of a drip thing going on, which is always good to see, and the colour transition from green to yellow is nicely worked. The piece is finished off with the customary sprinkling of oval spots running through the middle. An eye-catching piece of graffiti writing.

Logoe has been visiting Bristol again recently, and that generally means that he painted several pieces over a weekend. Unfortunately this time I goofed up some of my photographs and on returning to the pieces they had already gone. Not to worry though, he is so prolific and this is the first of a few posts from his trip earlier in the month

This is a particularly fine example of his work; beautiful, clean script writing, spelling out LOGOE in turquoise, set on a grey-green background. He has painted a subtle patterned green drop shadow, that complements rather than dominates the writing. No contemporary Logoe piece is complete without a string of oval spots running through the middle of the writing. All great stuff.

I don’t tend to visit Horfield skate park all that often, even though it is one of the closer spots to where I live, mainly because the turnover there is disappointingly slow. On the upside, when I do make the trip, there are usually two or three new pieces to enjoy. This one is a rather nice little collaboration from Logoe and Haka.

The duck character on the left is by Haka, and for once I am stumped – I don’t know if the duck is from Haka’s imagination or is from a children’s picture book, either way he is rather fun. Logoe completes the collaboration with his straight-line script writing, great fills and oval spots. The background colour helps to lift the whole thing and adds vibrancy and joy to a rather dull concrete corner of the Horfield Leisure Centre.

This is one of several pieces painted by Logoe a few weeks back during one of his blitz weekend visits. I got lucky and managed to catch up with him while he was painting this one, and we chatted for a while. Logoe is truly one of the gentlemen of Bristol graffiti writing, and although not a resident of the city, you would hardly know it.

This is a rather special piece with his writing superimposed on a hillside horizon, cutting the piece into two segments with two colours, black and pink, that contrast differently with the letters. The writing is in a straight-line joined up script style, spelling out the artist’s name. Of course there are a few oval dots thrown in for good measure. Nice work from Logoe.

This lovely script writing piece by Logoe was one of nine painted during a frenzied 24 hour period of activity when he visited Bristol a few weeks back. I think I only managed to find five of them, and often these blitz pieces get painted over quite quickly, depending on where they are.

It would be inconsistent of me to say I like the colours used in this piece, because I have said repeatedly on Natural Adventures that brown colour palettes are probably my least favourite. What he has done here is great to see… just a shame it is brown.

A couple of weekends ago I bumped into Logoe just as he was finishing off his 9th piece in 24 hours or so. What! His productivity when he visits Bristol is simply off the scale. He saves up his time and paint and then blitzes the streets when he can. It all sounds a little obsessive to me, but who am I to comment?

What is notable is that even when he is rushing through the pieces, the quality of the final outcome is consistently. While we were chatting the subject of the dots arose, and I said to him that the row of little dots or ovals were fairly unique to him. It turns out that he started introducing them to his pieces to cover up little mistakes, and then they became a feature. He admitted that they are still used to cover up mistakes sometimes.

Both of these pieces, one at each end of the tunnel, are written in a cartoony script style, with thin letters, and both spelling out LOGOE, each beautifully themed with great colours. Of course the dots are there playing their part.

I am away in Cornwall at the moment, but I have a feeling that he might have paid another visit to Bristol this weekend, and if so, I’d better make sure I have enough memory on my camera.

As regular readers will know, Logoe is an artist who visits Bristol several times a year, and one who makes the most of each trip, typically painting about six pieces over a couple of days. On his last visit, Logoe favoured the area around the Junction 2 roundabout on the M32.

These two pieces were painted opposite each other in a foot tunnel under the roundabout. Painted in his customary script writing, both pieces incorporated a fair amount of gold and orange tones and a liberal smattering of accompanying spots and dots.

I can only guess that Logoe pretty much sprays these pieces in quick-time. I wonder if the phrase ‘always a little further’ relates in any way to his heroic efforts. In this second piece, the white border is a nice touch which lifts the piece a little. I guess we need to brace ourselves for another visit sometime, although I understand that his work is a little more busy in the warmer months.

It would be fair to say that I am struggling to keep up with Logoe’s activity. He may only be a weekend visitor to Bristol, but he certainly crams in the pieces when he comes. I ventured up to the Junction 2 roundabout of the M32 recently, and found several recent pieces by Logoe, a couple of which are featured in this post.

I rather like the colours of this compressed green piece, written in a slightly fatter script than his usual scratchy letters. It would appear that Logoe can slap up his graffiti pieces in no time at all without compromising the quality of design or finishing.

The second piece is rather wider than the first, but picks up on the slightly fatter letters.  I am guessing that this was the last of a series painted during the day, because it has the message ‘bed time…’. I am guessing he was tired, because there is a distinct lack of horizontal oval spots – perhaps he had run out of paint. I think that Logoe represents the almost obsessive side of graffiti writing married up with the pure joy he would seem to get out of it. Lots more to come from this session.
