Frozen

From the souls of my

shoes, deathly cold rises through

my tired old body.

Heaven can wait

Breathe in the smooth air

take my fill of oxygen

blue sky and big wheel.

Urban frost

Heavy winter coats

donned, hunched commuters shiver

in queues for the tube.

Dawn rower

.

Sleek. Cutting through the

still water of the Avon

amidst frosty fields.

Early train

Sunlight cuts across

the carriage and it flickers

Intermittently.

Netball match

A bitterly cold

morning, though warmed to the core

watching my girl play.

Solitaire

All alone I sit

just me and the soapstone fish.

I finished it once.

A view

Cold crisp afternoon

grey stone buildings bleached by a

sunken autumn sun.

Alea iacta est

Now the die is cast

there is no going back, no

second chance. It’s done.
