3271. Princes Place (2)

This wall is an epic wall. There had been an incredible 3Dom piece here for a long time which was replaced by an exceptional Sepr and 3Dom collaboration and now in its most recent makeover we are blessed with this outstanding Sepr and Inkie collaboration.

On the left we have a classic masked thief in a stripy black and white top breaking a safe, stethoscope in hand. Everything about this cartoon character is brilliant – I just don’t know how Sepr can do this with spray paint, it is quite remarkable and I am awe.

On the right is a stunning piece of writing from Inkie with the words ‘Take the money and run’ with the words ‘the’ and ‘and run’ highlighted in different fontd and colours from the main body of writing. The ‘the’ is just so Inkie!

While I am not too sure what the whole piece refers to, I don’t think matters too much because the class of the artistry simply screams out – one of the best collaborations I have seen for quite a while. What is it about this wall?

2754. Princes’ Place

I have waited a very, very long time to get a clean shot of this old piece by 3Dom. Not too far from where I live, this piece was painted several years ago to brighten up the single car parking space outside Bishopston Tiles on the Gloucester Road. It seems that ever since, either cars have been parked there or storage paletts stacked up against the wall or it has been dark.

Finally I had my breakthrough last weekend and got a clean shot of it. The character piece is in a classical surreal cartoon style adopted by this artist with a human body and a face made from a spherical roof, complete with chimney. A customer parking sign never had such class. In a nice touch, 3Dom has painted a whole bunch of tiles on the wall to tie-in with the shop. No 3Dom collection is complete without this fabulous piece.

1326. Prince’s Place (3)

My absolute favourite piece of the year so far. This is an outstanding collaboration between two of the Bristol ASK masters, Sepr and 3Dom. As well as the composition, which is brilliant, the location is also cleverly chosen.

This wall was home to a 3Dom piece of writing that had remained here for a long time, completely untouched. I do hope that this piece is offered the same level of respect. On the left is a snorkeler in blue, with gold trunks and a starfish on his head expertly sprayed by Sepr.

If this isn’t weird enough, 3Dom has painted the most incredible jelly fish in rich and vibrant tones wearing a WW2 sea mine on its bell and with a chain trailing behind in its tentacles. A thing of quirkiness and real beauty.

The whole thing comes together magnificently, the contrasting colour palettes of each artist marking their work but combining in the centre of the piece. So sharp and fresh, this is a really high quality piece. being in quite a narrow lane, it is quite difficult to capture in a phiotograph, but it is a real beauty.

134. Princes Place

I had a great stroll along the Gloucester Road this morning, and photographed loads of street art, some of it very recent, other pieces, like this one, that have been around for some time.

This area would appear to be one of 3Dom’s favourite haunts, and there numerous works by him nearby. This one ‘when philosophers are kings’ dates back to at least 2010. The colours have faded a little, but it really has something about it.

It is a great wall, and I am a little surprised that it hasn’t been sprayed over. It is interesting that 3Dom’s work is rarely tagged or marked, I guess his pieces are respected, and rightly so.
