646. Unity Street (5)

Another delve into the archive for this brilliant little piece by Sled One. I’m not too sure why I didn’t post it sooner, I guess every now any then things get on top of me, and anyhow, I am never short of material. If I stopped taking pictures today (which I didn’t), I would still be able to post images for at least a year.

This is a playful piece spelling out ASK, the After School Klub crew which has about fifteen or so Bristol street artists in its ranks, including Deamze, Epok, Sepr and Soker.

I run out of words trying to describe how much I like Sled One’s work. He is so imaginative and creative, and the execution of his work is faultless. Making ducks out of letters or letters out of ducks, this is simply brilliant.

577. M32 Roundabout J3 (30)

This piece is the second I have posted from a Halloween session down at the M32 junction3 roundabout by the ASK crew. The first was an unusual piece from Epok and this one is by SledOne.

SledOne has incorporated a pumpkin into his wildstyle name and absolutely nails this piece, as he has a tendency to do. The colour palette matches the other participants in this session, which would appear to have been a lot of fun. My apologies it has taken so long to report.

I have said enough about how great Sled One is, so I’ll not dwell on repeating myself, but simply show you some pictures I took earlier in the Summer of one of his awesome pieces.

As with many of his murals, there is a story to be told here, but his stories always seem to be a little obscure, and I’ll be damned if I can figure them out.

His cartoon style of creating animals has a dream-like quality to it. Always beautifully sprayed, but something slightly weird in their looks or mannerisms.

In this piece we see a cat and a mouse, the latter of which bears a resemblance to the character Scrat from the Ice Age films. The mouse is running off with cheese, but the cat looks like he’s having none of it.

This is a fun piece from Bristol’s best.

548. M32 Roundabour J3 (27)

Another fine example of wildstyle writing down at the M32 roundabout by the inexhaustible Sled One. This piece has a metallic look to it, not only in the colour palette but also in the angular nature of the lettering and embellishment.

I have probably said as much as I need to in previous posts about how much I admire the work of Sled One. Always beautifully executed, never ever disappointing.

502. Armada Place (7)

This is a stunning, collaboration between Sled One and Epok, two of the best wildstyle writers about. It is easy to see the Sled One element…if you look carefully you can make out the letters SLED. I had to look hard though for Epok – I knew it was a collaboration because he had signed the piece. I think his lettering is in the grey-green underlayer – certainly this part is more in his style.

What I love most abut this piece is that it is on a modest hoarding with low footfall. This piece was done for the love of it. The colour palettes are brilliant and the whole thing quite beautiful. These things are so easily overlooked or dismissed…it is a pity.

496. Dean Lane skate park (26)

This wonderful scene was created back in October by Sled One, in conjunction with a piece by Ments which I wrote about a little while back. It seems that Sled One has an endless energy and talent for conceiving and executing some of the most imaginative street art in Bristol. His style is quite cartoony and injected with humour, and as I have said before, there always seems to be a story going on in his pieces.

I’m not sure what the story is, but it includes one of those really irritating toy clockwork monkeys with clashing cymbals which is beautifully portrayed. In addition, the wisps of steam from the cup of tea are masterfully painted. There is some real quality about this piece. Sled One never seems to disappoint. This is in my view exceptional street art.

481. Old Bread Street (8)

Another masterclass in street art from the magnificent Sled One. The hoardings in Old Bread Street  tend to get refreshed roughly fortnightly, so it can be difficult sometimes to photograph everything. In fact it is something of a miracle that I get to photograph anything at the moment. Work and family are occupying most of my time…I don’t mind the family bit, but work…

This picture is full of mischief, but it is also the work of a very talented young man. I’m not sure what direction he will take, but I think the world is his oyster. Whatever choices he makes in the future, I hope he will always make a little time to brighten up the Bristol streets with his joyful street art.

468. Moon Street (13)

At risk of getting a bit samey, I simply have to share this exceptional recent piece by Sled One. This time we see one of his wildstyle pieces, where you can make out the letters SLED and the word ONE at the far right.

The colours are absolutely wonderful and in keeping with the season (I’m not sure if this is intentional). The whole piece has a metallic quality to it and is really easy on the eye. This is wildstyle writing at its best.

459. M32 Roundabout J3 (19)

I can’t go too long without posting a piece by Sled One. If I only had to write about only a handful of graffiti/street artists in Bristol, Sled One would be right up there. His versatility is extraordinary, his colour pallets always superb and he seems to spray pretty much anywhere he can in Bristol.

This is a quick wildstyle piece which just shows off all his talents. I truly believe that Sled One will become a Bristol legend. He is already making such a mark. Just enjoy this artist. I do

396. Moon Street (10)

There are not enough great words to describe the work of Sled One. He is one of the most talented graffiti/street artists in Bristol, whether it is wildstyle writing or freestyled scenes like this one, he is without doubt a master of his craft.

This is a crazy and fun picture, and as with most of his creative scenes, there is surely a story going on here. I don’t know what the story is, but  it incorporates a bull in a camper van and some other weird stuff going on. There are some similarities to the work of 3Dom, in that they both can create these dream-like landscapes and stories.

This piece needs looking at to enjoy it, and I looked and I enjoyed. Spend a while seeing all the little details and see if you can figure it out. Another triumph from the awesome Sled One.
