2222. Moon Street (70)

Rezwonk is another street artist who seems to have found an extraordinary energy level this year, developing his writing in spots all over Bristol. This time he has produced a rather nice solo piece, but in recent weeks he has painted a lot in collaboration with Decay.

Here he spells out REZER, an obvious shortening of his ‘name’. It is an interesting moniker because the letters are quite harsh in capital form, lots of straight lines, in contrast for example with my own SCOOJ, which is much more curvy. I wonder if the names are directly or indirectly responsible for the development of a style… very probably.

This is a nice piece of writing, which sets me up nicely for a new piece of his that I photographed yesterday in Dean Lane that is outstanding, and which I will post in due course.

I am Stephen. I live in Bristol, UK. I decided to shorten my this: Wildlife, haiku, travel, streetart, psychogeography and my family. Not necessarily in that order.

  1. ‘Did’ Bristol today and got a few of his. Did St W & M32 and needed to see a man about a dog so went into Ikea and decided to have breakfast – again (having had cereal at home beforehand and toast at Coffee No 1 @ Welshback a while earlier). Impressed the hell outta me. I had a ‘small’ veggie breakfast and coffee for £3.50!!! The mug of coffee was only 50 pence. Amazing!

    1. Glad you had a good trip. Did you get over to Bedminster? There was a paint jam organised by Upfest and the Tobacco Factory. Stephen Quick, Pelmo, Alex Lucas and several others were all at work.

      1. Yep. Saw all that lot and took some wip pix. Also there was a session going on down under the bridge. Not sure who they all were – probably the usual writing crowd. There were about 4 or 5 of them but they were only just getting started so no style clues as to who was who.
