It would be great to know a little bit more about Wispa. She floats in and out of Bristol like a Willow the Wisp. Her Instagram is @willow_the_wispa, which might speak to her itinerant lifestyle. OK, news just in – I checked her Instagram that leads you to her web page, and here is an excerpt from her biography which helps to unravel the mystery somewhat:

I write Wispa, and am a female graffiti/street artist from the south of the U.K. I have been painting for 2 years. I paint all over the country, and have painted in Miami (United States) and Barcelona (Spain) as well as London, Bristol, Brighton and other U.K. spots I like to hit. Writers that really inspire are the likes of: Miss Motel (40hk), Samer, Dime, Isie Ldn, Spat, Zoegen (Miss Buns), Sterling & Skore.

In this combination piece, part of a huge paint jam celebrating the birthdays of RBF friends Desi and Even, Wispa has painted some stunning letters and a Japanese animation character from the Studio Ghibli. The letters are beautifully laid out with great colour selections and wonderful fills, and the character is so very neat and tidy. Wispa is without doubt an extraordinarily talented artist.

2359. Leake Street tunnel, London (6)

Every now and again I have to go to London for work, and a few days ago I ran a workshop in Lambeth. Although going to London can be a real drag, on this occasion I was only a fifteen minute walk from Waterloo Station and Leake Street, which made the whole trip worth it and some. So after the workshop was over, I pootled over to the tunnel and managed to get a few nice pics.

This is a beautiful piece by Ebee, whose name is spelled out on the building blocks, and the character is none other than the amazing Vanellope von Schweetz from the animation Wreck it Ralph 2. Unfortunately the piece is a bit tagged, which is the case with many of the superb murals in Leake Street tunnel, but it goes with the territory I guess. More Leake Street magic to come.

2160. Wilder Street (27)

A beautiful quick one by Sled One in Wilder Street. He has the incredible ability to animate whatever it is he paints, and in this case he has brought alive the word ASK (from the crew After School Klub, to which he belongs).

Great colours and patterns. At the time of writing this, I am aware of two more new pieces on this wall , curated by Where the Wall, which have appeared subsequently by other ASK crew members Sepr and 3Dom. Expect to see them here soon.

1750. The Bearpit (161)

I have had this piece in my archives for a little while now, and what is amazing is that the piece is still intact in one of the tunnels of The Bearpit, or at least it was last week, and has remained undogged since early August. The piece is by Tommy Fiendish – occasional visitor to Bristol.

Tommy Fiendish has made a little video of a version of this piece, entitled ‘will I take him out now your grace?’ which, if you are a fan of Terry Gilliam should tick your box. I do like his work which tends to have a subversive of humorous streak and is perhaps a little more visually challenging than much of the stuff you see around the place. All good.

1001. North Street

Just a quick one that I have been meaning to post for ever – since Upfest last year in fact. This is a small piece by the imaginative and creative Feoflip, who was in my view one of the highlights of Upfest 2016.

This is a plug socket brought to life and animated, looking almost like a little dog. It is a 2-pin socket betraying the continental background of the artist. This utility box has since been sprayed green…and had a little Upfest 2017 treatment!

515. The Bearpit (29)

This is a cheeky little ‘left-over’ from Upfest 2016 by Feoflip when he was in town in July. He has playfully animated a plug and wire, giving it a little personality. He sprayed several of these around the place, and I will try to post about them all. This one is on the wooden panels that create a terraced lawn (a bit of a fancy word for some grass) on the northern side of The Bearpit.

You can tell that Feoflip is not from these parts – we don’t use plugs like that in the UK, we have much more chunky square-pin jobbies that would look more like bull dogs than this rather cute ‘terrier’.
