2647. Frogmore Street (10)

Despite this being one of the closest walls to my work, it has taken me an inordinate amount of time for me to get round to photographing and posting it. Tucked away in Frogmore Street, just below a Banksy, this is a fabulous mural from RichT.

I didn’t see it at first, but towards the right of the piece is a Spider-Man hanging upside down in this fantasy environment. Sensational colours and weird and wonderful shapes combine to create a little masterpiece on the side of this night club. Nice work from RichT.

2645. Leonard Lane (23)

Well, well, well, this piece by Paul Monsters only goes to show that it is always worth making the effort to go off the beaten track from time to time, rather than only visit the ‘sure things’.

Last week I only had a short lunch break so rather than strolling off to Bedminster I took a quick butcher’s at Leonard Lane. This was my reward, a large colourful geometric design piece by Paul Monsters.

It is rare to see such large ‘commissiony’ type pieces in Leonard Lane, rather it is well known for tagging and practice pieces. I am guessing that it was permitted by Centrespace, the owners of the wall. What is most interesting about this excellent piece is that it is the first I have seen by Paul Monsters that is in such a narrow street. It works extremely well and seems to bring extra light to this dark and dingy place. A great find.

2644. Dean Lane skate park (268)

I am seeing more and more work by Dasco, but I think I have only ever posted one piece by this artist before. I have quite a few in my archive, and I think I’ll have to dig them out and post them, because pretty much everything I have seen is really very good. I think that my lack of Dasco posts is basically down to knowing nothing at all about the artist.

This particular recent piece of graffiti writing from Dasco in Dean Lane is absolutely masterful. The more I look at and study it the better it seems to get. Using the tried and tested black, white and red colour combination (Decay would approve) Dasco has crafted a beautiful and stylish font, elaborate and fancy without being precious. I need to find out more about this great graffiti writer.

2640. St Werburghs tunnel (122)

Right in the middle of St Werburghs tunnel, you can tell from the very orange lighting, is this rather nice piece from Mr Sleven. I’m not sure if it is disguised writing or simply a design. I’d like to think it says Sleven, but I don’t quite see it. Hot off the Press – Mr Sleven posted an Instagram design of this piece this morning… it is a skull.

I don’t see too much of his work around the place these days. In fact I think the last one I saw was ages ago in Moon Street. It was a great piece that remained for a considerable time. I doubt this one will be afforded the same courtesy. I think the long run of wet weather makes the tunnel a much more attractive venue for graffiti artists at the moment and turnover is high.

2639. Stokes Croft

A cheeky little mosaic flower from Angus below the front window of what used to be the It’s All 2 Much art gallery in Stokes Croft. Now, either this is reasonably new (I don’t think it is) or I have been wandering around with my head in the sky. This particular design was used by Angus at Upfest 2017 and there are a few of them in Bedminster, but I’ve not noticed this one in Stokes Croft before.

Always witty and pushing for new ideas, Angus has created this Mario Brothers flower using mosaic tiles, which give it a pixellated look a la video game. So good to see his work in North Bristol… something of a rarity for this artist.
