250. The Bearpit (18)

Since becoming aware of Laic217’s work work only a matter of two months ago, I seem to find his stuff everywhere. This is his latest piece that can be found on the staircase down into The Bearpit on the Northern side.

The head, and the colours used in this piece remind me of ‘the Mekon‘ who was the alien villain in the Dan Dare strip from the Eagle comic. My grandparents had a set of Eagle annuals, and I would read them from cover to cover when I used to stay. I ought to add, that they had belonged to my uncles, and that I was reading them several years after their publication. I digress.

I believe Laic217’s work is finding its place in the general order of Bristol street art, and is continually improving. He belongs to a small group of street artists that spray in both North and South Bristol. This is a good piece.

235. Wilder Street (2)

Another great find, that I had seen on the Interweb, but tracked down recently on one of my walks. This is another acid house trippy piece by Laic217 similar to the one on Moon Street. In this case though the face is melting vertically rather than horizontally.

There is something about Laic217’s pieces that I really like. They are quite raw, but rather potent. They will stand out in a crowd, so there is something special there. I will be posting more of his work soon.

190. Moon Street (10)

Laic217 is certainly providing me with loads of material at the moment. This is his latest work in a very busy Moon Street. In my view, this is the best that I have seen of his work so far. Weird, trippy and well executed – perfect for the wall it has been sprayed on.

I like the melting face and acid house theme. More of his work can be viewed on his profile page of streetpins.com a site for graffiti artists to show their work.

This piece was, I think completed over the weekend of 16/17 April.

182. M32 Roundabout Junction 3 (5)

It’s a bit like waiting for a bus…nothing for ages and then three turn up all at once. Well it is a bit like that with this third piece in as many weeks from Laic217.

The consistent themes for Laic217’s work seem to be his name decorated, but easily legible, bright carefully selected colour schemes and a character embellishing one of the letters. It is a formula I like, and one that is very distinct.

I look forward to stumbling on more of his works, now that I know where to look for them.

170. Dean Lane skate park (1)

It is a strange thing with hunting down street art that you can be completely ignorant of a particular artist, and then within a few days see several of their works. One such artist is Laic 217 who I featured for the first time on 31 March 2016. Earlier this week I spotted another of his pieces in the skate park in Dean Lane.

What I like about these is the character within the burner that seems to be common to his works, and the colours he uses.

I look forward to finding more of his stuff, especially as I now know where to look.

162. M32 roundabout Junction 3 (1)

I use this roundabout frequently and have been aware of loads of graffiti dotted around its superstructure. I decided on Tuesday to park up and take a closer look. The whole place is awash with amazing street art. Most of it is made up of wildstyle burners (intricate lettering) although there are some great art pieces too. Today I’ll start off with an artist I’ve not come across before.

This burner is by Laic 217. I imagine he is local, as there are a couple of his works nearby. My searches on the Interweb have not given me much information about the artist, but he does have an active Instagram account.

This piece has a symmetry about it, and the gaping portrait reminds me a little of the ‘Hellraiser’ movie. I’ll post more as I find it.
