3654. Bedminster

This extraordinary piece from Acer One has been on my hit list for quite a while, but I never quite knew where it was, and being an independent, stubborn and rather proud individual I didn’t really want to ask anyone about its whereabouts.

Unfortunately the sun was a little bit unkind being directly behind the piece on the day I took a walk into deepest Bedminster. The large piece is not like the geometric work that Acer One has been churning out lately, but one of his cityscapes. The whole thing is a little bit like a Dan Kitchener piece in its urban scene with lights, but there the comparison ends.

I suspect the piece depicts a street scene somewhere in Bristol, but I can’t quite be sure where. The blurred lights give the impression of cars in the night photographed with a long exposure. This is an amazing piece and so well worth a visit if you can find it.

2897. Bedminster

I don’t quite remember exactly the name of the road that this stunning Feoflip piece is in, but it is in Bedminster off East Street I think. Just one of the amazing legacy of works left behind by the artist during and after Upfest 2016. I like everything about this artist – his style and soft colour choices, his attention to finding the right spot and his adventurous spirit.

This Picassoesque face in grey shades on the mustard yellow background works perfectly on the red brick wall. Feoflip seems to have developed a technique that generates splatty thin lines that create the detail in his work and give it a really interesting texture. Unlike any other artist I have seen, Feoflip’s unique style works really well for me. I do hope he returns to Bristol before too long.

2518. Bedminster

Another one from my archive, but the piece, by Kin Dose is somewhat older than my photograph of it. Positioned in a bricked up gateway this stencil is perfectly framed, and is sited in an area without much street art itself, but the surrounding areas are awash with it.

I have seen this owl stencil a few times in Bristol, but each one has a different background of colours and swirls, this one with a big bright hunter’s moon. This is what Kin Dose brings to his stencil work, each piece is distinct and different even though at it’s heart is the same core piece. A nice find.

2179. Bedminster

Yes, another one, and still so many more to come that I have seen from the car, but haven’t yet been able to investigate on foot. These rabbits by Nevergiveup have certainly lived up to their fecund reputation and are multiplying all over the city.

I found this one while killing a few minutes waiting for my son who was training in Bristol South swimming pool. I don’t remember exactly the road it was in which is why this one gets the broad location ‘Bedminster’. All Nevergiveup’s bunnies are rather cute, but this one especially so.

1158. Bedminster

This piece and the one adjacent to it by Deamze have gone now as the buildint they are sprayed on is now surrounded with anti-graff hoardings, presumably because some development work has begun.

This is yet another high-quality piece from the Soker production line. Strong clear lines and colours, clean work from this great writer. There is a party feel to this piece with a backdrop of orange flashes and blue bubbles that contrasts cleverly with the pink and green lettering. The baseball caps on the letters adds a nice tough to the piece.

1116. North Street No. 76

Alex Lucas is everywhere in Bristol, a street art celebrity. Even if people in the city don’t know her by name, they will almost certainly have seen her work, and will recollect it if you describe it to them.

This is a recent piece that I was lucky enough to see as the shutters were down when I happened to be passing by – something that doesn’t seem to work out for me too often because I do most of my walking and photographing during daylight hours.

What a great advert these beautiful butterflies are for the Independent Desigh Collective which sets out to feature and promote designers and makers from the local area. Maybe one day I’ll come knocking on their door/shutters.

1102. Bedminster

I took this picture a couple of months ago in Bedminster, and of course it is instantly recognisable as a piece by Laic217. All the signature elements are there, a portrait, distortion, this time through broken glass, the bucket hat and smiley.

it was after seeing this piece, that the frequency of work Laic217 was churning out decreased markedly. I am pleased to say that he appears to be back up and running and firing on all cylinders.

Although this is not my favourite of his pieces, it is striking, and the colours really stand out.

1067. Bedminster

Fish and chips, horse and carriage, Morecambe and Wise…these are all things that we are accustomed to seeing together and so it is with Ryder and T-Rex. This is a rather nice little collaboration in Bedminster by these two painting buddies.

The radioactive R on the left is an icon that Ryder uses quite a lot, particularly when he is doing a quick throw-up. This one is a little more elaborate than some I have seen recently.

The dinosaur is obviously by T-Rex, this time opting for a rather fetching lilac colour, which seems to be in vogue at the moment in Bristol. There is something familiar and comforting about a collaboration between these two.

1064. Bedminster

Yet another really sharp piece from Deamze, using colours that he likes to use together tucked away in Bedminster. This clever piece bisects his wildstyle writing and character diagonally from top left to bottom right, the top half being monochrome pink and the bottom monochrome green.

It is a striking work that demonstrated Deamze’s talents to the full. I am not sure who the cartoon character is…answers on a postcard.
