658. Moon Street (23)

Moon street is a favourite haunt for Mr Klue, and since one of the best walls has had two doors screwed onto it, presumably in an effort to stop sprayers, he has simply switched to an adjacent wall.

This is yet another lovely abstract piece in the unique style of this Bristol graffiti artist. I noticed, at the time of writing, from an Instagram picture that it has now been tagged. Glad to have a nice clean shot of it.

A nice close up of the work.

605. The Bearpit (36)

A few days back, there was something of a graffiti art fest in The Bearpit, and many of the vacant tagged spots were given a makeover, several artists spraying more than one piece during the event.

This great abstract piece is by the extremely busy Mr Klue and draws the viewer into the mind of the artist – where are those steps leading? A nice quick one from a fine Bristol artist.

At the end of the south tunnel of The Bearpit is this fabulous festive collaboration between Mr Klue on the left and Decay on the right. This is a colourful coming together of two of Bristol’s best abstract graffiti artists, whose styles are markedly different  but which somehow works really well.

The colour schemes aren’t matching, and the angular shapes of Mr Klue  seem to be at odds with the curvy concentric rings typical of Decay, but as a whole it works, probably because the very fact that it is a collaboration offers a relationship between the pieces and even more so the artists.

An outpouring of Christmas cheer from two of my favourites. Perfect.

571. Moon Street (18)

It would appear the Mr Klue has been really busy this winter. I have started to find a whole load of wonderful pieces by him recently, and this one is a real peach. His abstract style is unmistakable, and this one works well with vanishing points and perspective.

This is one of my favourite walls in Bristol, something about the proportions and the isolation. I am hoping to get together with Mr Klue some time soon and get more insight into his work and that of other local artists. Meanwhile I will simply enjoy this piece. Lots to look at, and rather mesmerising.

527. Moon Street (16)

This is one of the best walls in Moon Street (Stokes Croat even). It stands out, is a great size, and allows only for one piece at a time, giving the artist space to frame the piece nicely. Mr Klue is, I would suggest, the best abstract street artist in Bristol – instantly recognisable and very easy on the eye.

Mr Klue seems to be comfortable working alone, or working in collaboration with others, and I have many examples of both in this blog. Consistently good, and some of his more recent work is looking very interesting indeed. I just have to get out and find it.

497. The Bearpit (27)

Tucked over to one side of the Bearpit, near the Premier Inn Hotel, I found this rather nice collaboration between Jee See and Mr Klue. In this piece we see the typical styles of each of these street artists. Mr Klue treats us to his swirling patterns in rich purples and lilacs, while Jee See offers a stencil of a girl with a revolutionary Castro look about her – a stencil I have seen repeatedly about Bristol.

I’m not sure if this piece is still there as I took the picture some time ago, and it is in a bit of The Bearpit I rarely visit. More from both to follow in time.

When I saw this I thought of Klue…ok so I begin with a really cheesy pun, but starting off a post can be difficult you know, so any way in is a welcome way as far as I can see. This is a lovely little piece by Mr Klue, tucked away in the borderlands between St Pauls and St Werberghs.

Mr Klue usually works with abstract continuous shapes with curves and angles, sort of what dreams might look like (I realise that only makes sense to me). Here he creates a scene of a man sitting at a desk with his PC and a window to look out of. It could be me working at home! Again, there is a dream like quality to the work and the pastel colours have a calming effect. Although I photographed this piece in June 2016, I think it was painted back in September 2015, which would explain the deterioration in some of the paint. Quality piece though.

323. City Road (2)

Another winning bird, this time a Blue Jay – not a native of Britain – by Aspire. I have run out of things to say about Aspire’s work. It is simply fabulous, and I am lucky to have such a talented artist in the neighbourhood.

Accompanying him on this occasion is the unmistakable work of Mr Klue. The swirling pattern working off the right hand side of the bird. Two great local artists keeping things fresh.

299. Wilder Street (6)

There is a small garage at the Western end of Wilder Street which has loads of graffiti art and street art decorating the outer walls. I think this is a rather recent phenomenon as the Google street view maps from June 2014 shows the building with plain white walls only. I have tried to photograph this particular wall a few times, but always there are cars parked in front of it. Patience certainly pays off.

This piece is another wonderful abstract offering from Mr Klue, only this time he has woven into his characteristic swirls and patterns some car wheels. It is really effective and relevant to the site. I am guessing that this was a permitted work rather than a commission, but can’t be sure. It is a fine piece though.

251. Hepburn Road (3)

This little side street just off Stokes Croft is a very popular spot with DNT and his friends, one of whom is Mr Klue. We are used to seeing rather more abstract pieces from Mr Klue, so this seated figure with a hat would have to go down as one of the more unusual pieces by him.

I really like the calmness of the work and it’s distinctive style. He is an artist I am really enjoying at the moment.
