I managed to catch up with Trafficity as he was finishing off this beauty on the River Avon. I seem to bump into the artist more often than chance would dictate, and so put it down to having matching ‘clocks’ of which spots to visit and when. I happens with some artists more than others.

Trafficity has produced another of his stock pieces, with the same design of letters that he always uses, but with a slightly different colour combination. What sets this piece apart from his other work is that he has spent more time on the background, and those pink flashes, which accessorises his work a little more than usual. Always steady and always outstanding.

More from the resurgent Cort, who has been smashing it in the second half of this year with some glorious vivid graffiti writing which is so much in his style. In this piece he is using the letters KoRt, which he has presented expertly.

Cort’s letters are unruly and yet quite uniform, which he achieves through common themes such as the orange spots, mid-lines and a regular black drop shadow. I love his colour choices in this piece which have an upbeat feel, perhaps augmented by the strong, clean cream buffed wall. Some really nice work here from Cort. Spot also the cheeky piece by Corupt hovering high above.

I have mentioned a couple of times recently that Cort has been having a surge this summer, not only in the quantity of his graffiti writing pieces, but also in the quality of them. This is another example of his unusual writing style on one of the large wall spaces at Peel Street Green.

Cort has been playing with all sorts of variants of his letters this year, and this one spells out KORTOS. The irregular shaped letters are verging on the ‘anti-style’ form, but have enough regularity and recognition to remail as conventional graffiti writing. The fills are nicely designed to run through the letters in a coherent pattern. I love the two characteristic black spots on the ‘T’. The wall is sensibly buffed, helping the letters to really stand out on the irregular white background. This is a beautifully designed and presented piece of graffiti writing.

This is another classy piece from Cort in a spate of good work from the artist. There is a simplicity here that offers no place to hide. The irregularly shaped letters spell out KORT, another corruption of his name. It seems these days that he is writing anything other than CORT.

The chrome letters would barely show on the white backdrop, were it not for the red outline and patterns. A subtle touch of green strategically placed brings some depth to the piece. The shout-outs I presume are friends and/or members of the PAD crew – ZIOS, also known as Trafficity. Simple and compelling.

It was a sunny day when I took these pictures, and I’m afraid you are stuck with a rather unattractive shadow, cast in the afternoon sunshine. I’m glad I took the pictures when I did though, because the piece was gone by the next time I visited. This is another in a recent spate of pieces by Cort, and I have to say that he is hitting a rich vein of form, in my view at least.

Cort plays a lot with his writing, both in his choice of his letters and in his unique styling of each one. Here he spells Kortos, a corruption of his usual Cort, and presents each of his asymmetric letters with a different fill that across the whole piece forms a regular Patton or concept. The beautifully painted letters sit on top of a contrasting yellow and turquoise background. Great work from Cort.

Cort is an elusive artist, painting as part of the PAD crew which includes Laic217 (what has happened to him?) and Trafficity amongst others in the Polish street art community. His style is really distinctive, and at times his work is exceptional.

This is a rather tidy piece that looks like a bit of a sketch, painted or drawn with black and red biros (ball point pens) and a blue fountain pen. The letters are irregular in shape and size, but the whole word conforms to a specific height throughout. Set on a creamy background, the lettering looks rather good to me. I like this piece.

Trafficity has become the complete master of his own creation. His form of letters, spelling ZIOM barely deviates from one piece to the next, only the colours getting a refresh, and even those are becoming more similar from one piece to the next.

This one was slightly hidden behind the hedge along the swimming pool wall at Dean Lane and contains some of his favoured colours. The likeness to all of his work can be seen by taking a look at a gallery of his pieces, although one significant difference is that this one has four horizontal colour bands, where most of his other pieces have three. Another fine addition to his portfolio.

Although Cort tends to have a presence in Bristol most of the time, I don’t find myself posting his work all that often. He is an artist who definitely likes to do things his own way and although he can come across as a little unfriendly, I suspect that he is probably quite introverted and likes to keep himself to himself.

It is very difficult to describe Cort’s style, but am going to have a go anyway. His letters are often quite unruly and veer towards anti-style, except that there is an irregular regularity about them. I always rather like his fills, which feel quite artistic to me, and I can see links to the art of Miro (is that just me?). Cort has included a little line drawing cartoon character, which adds a little bit of fun to the overall work. This is a nice piece from Cort.

Trafficity is an artist who paints just often enough to keep him in mind. His winning formula of letters with variations in horizontal colour bands is consistent and unwavering. I wonder if he could produce a chrome version of his writing, and if so, would it work?

The colours selected for this one on the roundabout, are broadly speaking his favoured colours, he likes greens purples and light blues, only occasionally turning to the ‘warmer’ colours of the spectrum. The letters spell ZIOM, and I can still see the word MUMM in the top lime green section. Tick tock.

5968. Peel Street Green (29)

Cort, Peel Street Green, Bristol, April 2024

Cort tends to keep a very low profile, and I think he likes to keep it that way. On the few occasions that I have met him, he has been a man of few words, letting his artwork do the talking. Although he is not as productive these days as he has been in years gone by, the quality of the work has made up for the infrequency.

This piece in Peel Street Green is a belter, and he has replaced his usual CORT letters with the word DRUNK. I wonder if that references the state he was in when painting it, or whether there is another story behind the letters. The piece is nice and sharp with good colours and some nice letter fills. There is both fun and movement in the whole thing that gives it some vibrancy, and it certainly stands out in this long gallery wall.
