I have driven past this piece countless times on my way to Temple Meads station, and always meant to stop for a couple of pictures, but I only got round to it about a month ago…it sometimes happens you know.

The innovative collaboration is by Acer One and Andy Council, who have done so many collaborative pieces in recent years, and rarely produce anything other than outstanding work. The piece is entitled Hybrid, and I am guessing that it is a reference to their different styles working together. The collaboration feels a bit like a half-finished page from a colouring in book, and I wonder whether Andy Council has considered producing a colouring book… on this evidence he could probably create a whole new income stream.

A fabulous collaboration, shared with you at last.

This is an easy piece to overlook, and sometimes it is the pieces that are ‘in our faces’ that this can happen to. I’m not sure how long this paste-up by David Puck has been on this hoarding, but it is one of a few large portrait wheatpastes that he has gifted us over the year, but the first I have posted on Natural Adventures.

Let’s hear it for the wheatpasters! This form of street art is very much the poor relation in Bristol, which is a pity, because I have always rather liked them, and it was Kid Crayon’s wheatpastes that first got me curious about street art a few years back. David Puck has created a portrait of a woman resembling Marilyn Monroe, beautifully painted with a leafy print. The words ‘Apathy to nature tells of inner style’ would appear to be a quote and may have inspired the piece. It is so good to see work like this in Bristol, and I will see if I can dig out and post some more David Puck.

3526. Temple Way (3)

In have held on to this piece in my archive for way too long, and spurred on by the surge of recent pieces by Acer One, I wanted to share this geometric piece that is quite different from his more recent stuff, but still carries that heavily designed feel to it.

The hoardings on Temple Way around a huge development will in time be removed, but at least the developers had the foresight to commission some pieces which have not only brightened up this very dull bit of road, but have also gone a long way to keeping taggers at bay. This design is not only beautiful but has been meticulously painted by Acer One. I am becoming a very big fan.

There are few places further removed from the relaxing evening beach scene in this Silent Hobo piece than Temple Way – a busy dual carriageway running through the centre of Bristol. It is this juxtaposition that adds to the overall brilliance of this piece.

Silent Hobo has been unstoppable this year, and on top of that, I seem to be finding loads of his older pieces too, which means he is featuring a lot on Natural Adventures at the moment.

Four youths are getting away from it all chilling on a beach in the sunset, soaking in that connection with nature and our beautiful planet Earth. The piece captures a mood so perfectly and I can imagine myself as one of those youths (I have to think back a long way mind). I find the story in this work a bit depressing because I can’t help feeling that our planet and the ecosystem services it provides are being choked to death by negligent governments and societies worldwide. And on that happy note…

3173. Temple Way (1)

There is so much construction work going on in Bristol it is quite mind-boggling, and this in the shadow of ten years of austerity and now a coronavirus recession – there are obviously still large bags of money out there. Construction usually means that, for a short while at least, temporary hoardings will be installed, and if you are lucky the constructors may commission street artists to paint them in the hope that they don’t get covered in unattractive tags.

Temple way is no stranger to construction, but may be a stranger to the talents of Kin Dose whose meerkat piece is outstanding in every way. Kin Dose uses an airbrush technique that allows him to create the detail in the fur and the tree branch and so on. Sit back and enjoy this wonderful masterpiece from one of the very best.
