5379. Brunel Way (218)

I don’t often post pieces by unknown artists on Natural Adventures, but when I do, it is in the hope that perhaps I might find out in due course and be able to update the post. Some pieces are too good or unusual to ignore, and this stunning fish piece on the floor at the southern end of Brunel Way is both.

The fish, which looks like a koi carp, has been painted in subtle shades, and almost looks like a pastel colouring. I am not sure what materials were used to paint it, but it doesn’t look like spray paint, more likely brush painted with poster paints or acrylics. Anatomically, the fish is pretty sound, but it is the graceful flow that is captured so well in this piece. Definitely something a little different to the usual fare on Natural Adventures. I will update this post if I find out anything more on the artist.

We’re going back a long way with this piece, photographed at the top end of Stapleton Road in May 2018. I don’t know who the artist is, and I expect that is why I never posted it at the time.

It looks like it might have been by Dabuten Tronko, but I think the tag is from the piece to the left. The familiar theme of a skeleton using spray cans is often associated with Laic217, but this is certainly not one of his. I guess it will remain a mystery who the artist is, but it was too good to leave in my archive once I have revisited it recently.

4477. Dean Lane skate park (496)

I went in search of a Mudra piece and instead found this cat painted over the top of it, and my disappointment and pleasure were present in equal measure. It would have been nice to see the Mudra piece in all its glory, but it is a jungle out there. It would also be nice to have some clue about the artist who painted the cat… answers on a postcard.

I rarely post pieces from unknown artists, but I couldn’t resist this one. The artist has captured the cat’s expression really well, and the use of colours and overlapping lines works really well. This looks like a practice piece by an artist who knows what they are doing. A great find.

4283. Franklyn Lane

I rarely post pieces by artists that I can’t name, but sometimes I feel that I just have to, especially if the likelihood of me ever finding out who they are are practically nil. This beautiful traditional Indian art is tucked away in a back street in St Paul’s, and has recently been repainted/repaired.

I’m sure these artworks have a name, but I don’t know what it is. Whatever they are called doesn’t matter too much, because this is just stunning. The quality and detail of the piece are outstanding. Simply brilliant, and I honour the artist whoever they are.

3313. River Avon (7)

Lots of unknowns about this amazing piece on the Avon River pathway. I have no idea who the artist is and I don’t know how long it has been there, but judging from the fact that it looks pretty fresh and clean and the subject, it might be a recent Halloween piece.

Set on a blue and red broad-striped background this fabulously painted Satan face with enormous horns stands out a mile. The artwork is immaculate and this has been sprayed by an accomplished artist. The hand and spray can spewing out blue paint add a perfect finishing touch to the wall. The word MAFIA at the bottom right doesn’t help with identification. I am irritated that I can’t place the artist, especially as there is something familiar about the style that I simply can’t pin down. Too good not to post. I got there in the end, it is by Dabuten Tronko… see comments below.

3265. Brunel Way bridge (66)

I must admit to being very taken by this piece on the wall facing the river, and I have absolutely no idea who the artist is. If I find out at any time I will add the name in because I don’t like posting pieces by unknown artists, but sometimes they are just too good to leave in the archive.

To me the whole thing simply screams out Matisse with perhaps a touch of Miro, maybe Chagall and is worthy of hanging in any fine art gallery, but is also worthy of a wider reach and audience alongside the Bristol Avon. A lovely piece of abstract street art.
