Clearly very excited about the release of the recent Star Wars movie (and who wouldn’t be?), it would appear that Soker, who usually writes his name, may have been inspired to spray this R2D2 piece. It is possible there is more to it than that, but it matters not, this is a brilliant clean piece.

On one of the feature walls at Dean Lane, this piece works beautifully, the proportions are all nicely done and the colours assembled well. The piece also generated some good banter on his Instagram account with his stablemates Cheo and Voyder (Darth Voyder).
This is the right hand end piece to the ASK paint jam collaboration from November and is by Sepr. I have always been a huge admirer of his work and I am so pleased that he has been hitting the streets hard in recent months. His character style is so unique, and for me it has a really strong 1950s and 1960s feel to it – if you type ‘1950s cartoon characters’ into Google images, you’ll get a sense of what I mean.

This particular piece is all a bit strange and there is lots going on. Where to begin? At the top there is a bird playing a flute I think and its left wing makes a crown, although I think that is accidental. Common with many of Sepr’s pieces, the character is playing a musical instrument, a tambourine, and in his other hand he appears to be burning joss sticks, the smoke trail of which terminates with a snake’s head. He is sitting astride a dolphin. What on earth can it all mean?

Whatever it means, it is a fascinating and joyful piece to look at, and rounds off what is a truly exceptional wall. I think I only have one piece left to post from this ASK paint jam, and that is by 3Dom. All very good.
‘Trick of the eye’ – this is a magnificent piece by one of my favourite Bristol artists, Sled One. In this one piece he has created an extraordinary fantasy world and constructed a brilliant piece of wildstyle writing into the mix as well.

The writing says ‘eye’, which is clever enough on its own, but it is the remarkable hand (protruding from the iris of the eye) pulling a rabbit from a magician’s top hat, hence the titlwe of the piece.

In my view, the magician of the piece is Sled One. He really is an extraordinary talent and creates these ‘stories’ like no other artist I have seen. While his story telling is great, it is the beautifully crafted characters that make these pieces. His imagination is allowed to run wild and he produces these surreal cartoon style creatures which are so full of interesting detail and demand to be studied.

This is an absolutely stunning piece of graffiti art that would hold its own on any wall anywhere in the world.
This is the third piece I have posted from the ASK halloween paint jam at Brunel Way bridge, the others were by Inkie and Feek. This is yet another masterful work from the resurgent Sepr – there seems to be no stopping him at the moment.

Sepr has created a fabulous depiction of Count Dracula drinking what appears to be a rather nice glass of wine, but take a closer look in the bottle and you will notice a heart. The humour extends to Dracula’s footwear, which if I am not mistaken, appear to be slippers.

The whole piece is beautifully sprayed right down to the shadows at the bottom of the piece…but then, I thought Count Dracula had no shadow…am I right?
This is a supremely beautiful work by Epok from a recent paint jam down at the M32 roundabout. I like everything about this piece, the proportions of the letters, the angles and curves, but most of all I think the colour selection is sublime, and I love the tinges of red in the middle of the piece.

I have never met Epok, nor seen him spraying, but would surely like to see him at work. There is something different about his wildstyle pieces that really catches the eye. I think that one of the main things is that his writing doesn’t adhere to our writing conventions of letters having an equal height and proportion. His letters fit into his design, which often tapers at one end or the other.
It has been some time since I last saw anything by Ments, so it was fantastic to come across this fine piece recently that was sprayed as part of an ASK paint jam. The wall was given a great backwash of grey-green, and several excellent works produced.

Ments has a wonderful organic style to his wildstyle writing, which spells out MENTS…although I struggle to see all those letters. The colour selections are fabulous and work so very well against the backdrop.

This is a nice witty piece from Feek as part of the Halloween ASK collaboration at this spot. The ASK crew have been very busy recently. This piece has a real comic book feel to it and is by one of the artists whose work I don’t see too often – the last piece was on one of the ramps at Dean Lane skate park.

Feek has painted a ghoulish Miss Millies (a poor man’s KFC, if there is such a thing) waitress serving up body parts, with a speech bubble saying ‘youur piece sssucks‘ a reference not only to the food pieces being served up, but also a playful jibe at his crew mates and the pieces they are working on.

I have just noticed another thing about Feek’s work that I have never noticed before, but it would appear that he nearly always includes a speech bubble as if he wants to give his characters a voice. I’d really like to see more of his work on Bristol’s streets.
This piece and the one adjacent to it by Deamze have gone now as the buildint they are sprayed on is now surrounded with anti-graff hoardings, presumably because some development work has begun.

This is yet another high-quality piece from the Soker production line. Strong clear lines and colours, clean work from this great writer. There is a party feel to this piece with a backdrop of orange flashes and blue bubbles that contrasts cleverly with the pink and green lettering. The baseball caps on the letters adds a nice tough to the piece.
A wonderful recent piece on the long wall at Dean Lane by three of Bristol’s very best street/graffiti artists, 3Dom, Soker and Cheo from the ASK stable. I think that this might have been another Halloween collaboration – they have been very popular this year.

First off, on the left is a curious surreal house/shed/kennel with something swirly going on in the middle. 3Dom always has this dream like imagination that presents the familiar combined with the bizarre. The dripping house and shadow underneath are very nice touches to this piece. Great to see 3Dom being more visible on the streets again after a gap of several months.

I suspect that regular readers will be very familiar by now with the writing of Soker (text says SOKEM) or at least if you are not, where have you been? His writing is always of a high quality and I have rarely been disappointed.

Finally, rounding off the collaboration is a wonderful homage to ‘Freddy Krueger’ by Cheo, complete with razor fingers, stripy t-shirt and a pumpkin face. This is a fun piece that really stands out…it is a pity that there is a bit of glare on the photograph. Most annoying.

All in all this was a nice halloween surprise for me in this spot which I regularly visit. Great work from the boys.
I have known about this spot for a long while, but not managed to get out to it until recently. It is on a concrete wall which supports one of the main road bridges over the River Avon. The wall, on the south bank, is ideal for spraying, but a little less than ideal for photographing, due to poor light and reflections. I tried my best.

This interesting piece by Inkie is a middle section to an ASK crew Halloween collaboration. There is one part about this that I am not sure about. The character in the middle is quite unlike anything I have seen from Inkie before and at first, my suspicion was that it is by somebody else, but the more I look at it, the more I think it is Inkie’s work. The hair in particular is in the style that he uses for his other pieces.
The writing is, as you would expect to see from Inkie, immaculate, and the piece as a whole something slightly out of the ordinary. More from this wall to follow soon.
