Sometimes you have to be patient, and with photographing shutter pieces this can be particularly true. I have known about this wonderful cat mural by Kin Dose for a long time, it was painted during lock down, but every time I visited until recently the shop was open and the shutter up.

This delightful cat was commissioned by ToyVille on North Street and is a fantastic permanent addition to the cluster of amazing pieces in this area of Bedminster. I don’t know if it is deliberate, but the cat is staring straight across the zebra crossing, giving pedestrians ‘the eye’.

Kin Dose is simply one of the best and his technique of airbrush spray painting enables him to add the most incredible fine detail to his pieces, especially good for fur and whiskers. This piece is situated immediately to the right of his kingfisher commission that was painted a few days before.
When DazCat posted this piece on Instagram he accompanied it with the following words ‘Tried something new, perspective is tricky!’. To me though I think he did a fabulous job.

Although Daz Cat does write from time to time he is definitely better known for his cats, dogs and other animals. The perspective works pretty well in this piece, but I am slightly perplexed that I can’t properly read the writing. I’ll let you work it out for yourselves.

The cat is something altogether More Daz Catty. Propped up against the letters the rather bored, sullen or sad looking cat is passing the time drinking from a bottle (of milk perhaps?). Overall this is a nice piece, slightly understated, that should give the artist confidence to try more experimental work in future.
Well hello boys! Daz Cat has done himself proud with this new sassy female cat up at Purdown Battery. It is really clever how by changing a few features slightly, the gender of the cat can be changed. I guess it is mostly in the eyes and mouth that male becomes female or vice verse.

In an Instagram post Daz Cat said that there will be more girl cats coming soon. I am thoroughly looking forward to that. I have a few more cats from the artist yet to post, so watch this space.
Beautiful to behold but difficult to photograph is this excellent middle section of a new collaborative wall by Sepr and to its left is a 3Dom piece already posted and to the right a Feek piece yet to be posted.

This is definitely one for the animal lovers, with a character cat, mouse and canary, key components of a cartoon caper. I am not fully clear what the story here is, but the cat seems to be holding a ladder for the canary with a key to its cage resting on its ‘ear’ and a screwdriver which it is using to undo the hinges of the cage door. Meanwhile a mouse has trapped its tail in a cheesy mouse trap.

the red backdrop contains a shelf with a menagerie of small animals in various containers, beautifully painted as a subtle background to the main event. This is a brilliant piece from Sepr which brings to life his illustrative skills and story-telling ability. Great work.
Under Brunel Way, alongside the River Avon is a popular wall (a supporting slab of concrete) that has featured many times on Natural Adventures. Occasionally the curved end of the wall receives some artistic treatment and in this case it is from Daz Cat, another busy artist since late May.

In this piece we are treated to another full length body cat character, rather than the cat face that we are more accustomed to seeing. This full body approach allows us to see the full scope of talent that Daz Cat has to offer, and the rather elderly-looking cat is wearing a rather nicely painted red outfit with blue trimmings. An enjoyable piece for sure.
There are some artists whose work I enjoy finding more than others. Is that normal? I guess it is. It doesn’t mean I don’t like the others, on the contrary I pretty much tend to like them all, but some just some give me that special feeling of excitement for whatever reason. One of these artists is Daz Cat.

I found this unusual piece on the M32 cycle path next to one from painting companion Kool Hand. This cat looks a little worse for wear, judging from his expression and the long neck is a clever mechanism for getting the whole thing into a landscape format. Some lovely touches on the cat’s jumper and an all-round winning piece.
I don’t know this artist’s street name, but I call him Taboo because I use the convention of naming him after the letters he writes. His Instagram account is @forbidden_association which doesn’t tell us much more about him.

This new piece in Dean Lane is really nicely done and incorporates Tom Cat from Tom and Jerry. The letters, which spell out TABOO, are nicely done and have a chunky heavy look about them which is typical of the artist. If you are looking for a light touch, fine detail and finesse, you are unlikely to find it here, and yet the character element of the piece has a much softer touch. A really nice and rather unusual piece.
I can definitely say that is has been a joy to start finding new pieces dotted around Bristol, and I expect a surge of street/graffiti art over the coming weeks as artists come out of full lock down. Some will inevitable end up in my archive for another day, but I will try to post as many as I am able.

This is a super-quick one from Daz Cat in bright and cheerful colours. I really rather like it, and although it is definitely a little bit rough around the edges, it is a striking piece (and one I can use for a future Thurdsay doors post).
Yes, I’m still working through my archives, unearthing some of the nice pieces that got left behind, which is inevitable when I can only post two new works a day. This is a rather nice column piece from Daz Cat back in July 2018.

Yesterday’s second post was by Kool Hand, and given that these two like to paint together, this might have been sprayed during the same session. Daz Kat usually, but not always, paints cat faces each of which has its own character and colours. The text reads ‘scum triumphant’ – I’m not too sure what it means but it is a good graffiti message. I like the work of Daz Cat, it has a gritty and slightly edgy feel to it, which is what this is all about.
