I haven’t seen quite as much from Soap this year as I would have liked, perhaps he has been working hard, but he has made plenty of regular appearances alongside his PWA friends. This wonderful Christmas piece was painted alongside Zake and Face 1st.

This year was a very quiet year for Christmas themed pieces, so it was nice to see this PWA paint jam. soap has spelled out his name in this combination piece, with a rather creepy skull-face Father Christmas making up the ‘O’ of SOAP. The gold lettering with red accents and a ‘ho, ho, ho’ add to the festive appeal of the piece. Some nice work from Soap.

I wasn’t too sure whether to include this Klashwhensober Christmas piece, mainly on the grounds that I find it a little disturbing. I have noticed recently that several pieces have taken a slightly darker turn. The SOBER letters are still bright and vibrant, but the characters are a little on the weird side.

In this Christmas piece, I think I would run a mile if I saw this Santa by the fireplace. He looks like he might have had a few too many brandies, and his hand gesture is hardly in the Christmas spirit of things. The letters are good with great colours – I’m just not too sure about the character.

The paint on this piece was only a day old when I sauntered past it the day before yesterday, and I can’t tell you how pleased I was to find it, as I haven’t seen very many Christmas pieces this year, certainly not compared to normal, although there was a late burst from the Resting Bitch Face crew in St Werburghs Tunnel this week.

Werm seems to love the walls alongside the River Avon, and there are several of his pieces down there to enjoy. His letters are really beautifully constructed and painted in festive colours, and it is amazing to think how much progress he has made over the last couple of years. The addition of Father Christmas is an extra bonus, and perfect for a Christmas post. Season’s greetings all, Ho! Ho! Ho!

3413. M32 Spot (100)

It was great to see that Zace was getting into the Christmas spirit down at the M32 Spot with this alien face wearing a Father Christmas hat. One of the good things about 2020 for me has been the sheer number of new artists spraying their work in Bristol of which Zace was one.

I think the best part of these new artists is the diversity they bring. One might think that the ‘market’ was flooded, but as with all art, there are no limits to the variety of styles and subjects that people bring with them. I am really looking forward to watching Zace develop over the coming year.

1211. The Bearpit (111)

I have said it before recently, that John D’oh has been busy stencilling this autumn/winter, with much of his work appearing in The Bearpit. He has also done some other highly satirical Banksy tributes in Cheltenham, but I haven’t yet seen them.

Always edgy and often political, John D’oh’s work, more than any other artist in Bristol is a target for tagging and dogging. He is clearly not held in the same regard as other artists, but that is the way for political artists…not everyone will agree with them. The Queen stencil has had the eyes sprayed red…which possibly enhances the menace of the piece.

I apologise for the quality of the images, which were rather compromised by the low light levels…I was on my way to do some Christmas shopping and the light was fading fast. I thought I’d include them anyway.
