What you see is what you get from Merny (Morny). This is a fun piece painted in his illustrative style that contains little lines and points as if it were a set of instructions for an Airfix model or a diagram in a Haynes Manual.

In this piece it would appear that a story is unfolding of a nuclear family having a day out. ‘Dad’ is chilling and drinking a beer. ‘The kids’ are calling out “wait for me Linda!” And Linda (or mum) or dad are going on about parallel parking. I suspect that Merny based the concept on a real life event, but I have no evidence for that. All good fun though and wonderfully animated and vibrant.

This is the first of a swathe of wonderful pieces by Logoe, who seems to have sparked into life with at least five pieces in a little over a week. It took me a moment to recognise the artist, because it is such a long time since I last saw any of his work.

The script-style writing spells out Logoe and the vertical fill autumn colours in the letters is truly exceptional, looking like huge paint drips on the wall. Many of Logoe’s pieces have some philosophical or song writing in them, scrawled over his work, and here it says ‘I sware on my muver’s life’. A lovely piece, and watch this space for a whole lot more.

Stivs has been working overtime of late, painting pretty much every week, and each time turning out something of great interest and style. This recent one, whilst visually attractive, might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Spelling out DogShit, I suppose what this piece does is challenge us to accept the word through the beauty of the writing, and believe me, this is a very classy piece of writing. Stivs just seems to be getting better and better, and he switches up his writing style all the time, keeping things fresh. The vibrant colour selections work really well, and there is still a touch of calligraphic strokes to the letters. A very nice piece indeed.

This is a very appealing colour selection for this fiery Pekoe piece on the M32 roundabout. Another interesting feature is that Pekoe has given us more than just a portrait, which is the norm with her work, and we have the top halfI  of the character.

I think that this might be an early Halloween piece, or it is simply a cheeky devil, either way it is nice to see, and I love the little winged orange emoji-type thing. Brace yourself for a season of Halloween pieces, which seem to be getting more and more popular every year.

The third piece by Smut on Natural Adventures, and I couldn’t put it any better than the artist himself does… “Everybody loves Smut”. Well if not everybody, at least I do, and that’s what matters.

As with his other pieces, it is the sharpness of his lines that really catches the eye, and the script form of the whiting is rather seductive. This is a really accomplished piece, as the fills demonstrate. I’m looking forward to meeting the artist at some point in the future, if only to find out about the techniques used.

Mest is one of several artists who keep things simple. He adopts the same basic design of letters but plays around with the background, fill and shadow colours, always creating interest and variation of a form.

This is a lovely new piece on the M32 roundabout painted alongside Stivs, a good friend, and adopting the same colour scheme. I wonder if it is the influence of Stivs, but this piece is really tight and one of Mest’s best to date in my opinion. The horizontal transition of greens is nicely handled, and the thin green border is very sharp. An attractive piece of work.

Just lately there have been several new pieces by Kool Hand painted alongside Daz Cat, and I am guessing that he is back from London, at least for a little while. I am assuming that it is London where he has been because he has posted some pieces from there. These two have painted a lot together in the past, so it is great to see them teaming up once again.

This is a rather nice little wall on the entrance to one of the little tunnels on the M32 roundabout and the quick collaboration features a fairly typical Daz Cat cat alongside  a bucket hat wearing leopard. Just another normal day in St Paul’s.

I haven’t seen a new Elvs piece for quite a while, so I was doubly pleased to not only find this graffiti writing, but also to find Elvs working on it. Of course, I chatted for a little while, conscious that these guys sometimes like to have a bit of peace and quiet. I asked why he hasn’t been painting much recently, and one of the reasons is that he is now the proud owner of a dog, a very big dog. Well you don’t need me to tell you just how much time a dog can occupy.

There is something about this piece that elevates it above many of his others (a high bar indeed) and I think it might be the exquisite colour selection and blending as you move up and down and along the letters. The piece is flawless and beautifully finished, and with a piece like this, the buffed background makes a big difference. Let’s hope the dog lets him get out more!

I guess it’s high time for another cute Kawaii piece from Maesyhook, so here it is for all to enjoy. Maesyhook has certainly brought something very different to the walls of Bristol and paints frequently enough to become a bit of a favourite of mine.

This piece sandwiched between two writers is painted in Maesyhook’s customary pink tones, and even the skull, lovingly held by the little bunny character, looks cute. Her work is a real antidote to the constant negative headlines and continuing Government narrative that seems to be more and more removed from ordinary people by the day, and provides a little glimmer of fun and enjoyment. Keep it up Maesyhook.

What an absolutely fabulous classic from Face 1st. It is pieces like this that first led me to appreciate the work of this rather underrated graffiti artist. Face 1st has been relentless in his pursuit of bringing smiles to people’s faces, and with this blue face girl he succeeds perfectly.

The colours used are really attractive and easy on the eye, and the typical smiling girl with the letters FACE for hair is pure Face 1st at his very best. I love this piece to bits.
