2338. North Street Green (13)

I said in a post not too long ago that I would have to start doubling up on Nevergiveup’s rabbits, because there are so many of them, and so tru to my word, here are two for the price of one.

Both of these are at North Street Green, and one has been there rather longer than the other one and is looking a little worse for wear. This purple bunny is a little bit dumpy, constrained by the size and shape of the utility box it is painted on, but nonetheless cute.

The older rabbit on the door has been tagged quite heavily and could probably do with a makeover. It is quite unusual to see Nevergiveup’s rabbits defaced in this way, but I guess on an urban green like this one you are inviting trouble. Not much point in saying more to come from this artist…

2330. Wilder Street (35)

Yup, he’s everywhere, even Wilder Street isn’t exempt from the attentions of Nevergiveup and his urban bunny rabbits. I think that because he is producing these at such a magnificent rate I am going to have to double up some of his bunnys, to conserve posts on Natural Adventures.

I also think that the time has probably come to create a gallery of his work, so watch this space. I rather like this green bunny, and especially like his distorted reflection in the metal sheet to the left. Another one for the growing collection.

2289. Jessop Underpass (3)

 

These rabbits have bred like well… err… rabbits. There are dozens of them all over the city, and I have lost count of how many I have posted or photographed, and still I have a whole load in my archive. This particular one is relatively recent I think, as I pass this way quite frequently and hadn’t noticed it before last week.

Nevergiveup, or Nevergiveup Familia (NGU) to give him his full tag lives up to his name and has a determination to brighten up the city with his bunnies, while still keeping his hand in with some graffiti writing. I’m not sure how he finds the energy. It would take a hard soul to consider this bunny as vandalism. What would you prefer? A standard green/grey utility box with nothing attractive about it or a cheerful bunny bringing a smile to commuters’ faces? It is a no brainer, but I am waiting for the local headlines that announce Bristol City Council’s stiffening resolve to eradicate such vandalism. I hope it doesn’t come to that, I and many others in Bristol are fond of NGU’s rabbits.

2262. Dean Lane skate park (219)

This is a rather nice burner from an artist we tend to associate with bunny rabbits, but whose work is in fact broad and varied, Nevergiveup. There is an awful lot to like about this carefully put together piece, which spells out ZBOK, which I believe means deviant (or something of that nature) in Polish. The beautiful deep red background frames the extraordinary interior filling that displays wonderful technique with sharp patterning of the letters.

Nevergiveup tends to sign these pieces NGU although he has several different aliases which he uses on his Instagram accounts, such as @followmyrabbits or @zbok_ngu or @ngufam_vandals. This is a nice tidy example ofhis versatility.

2191. Dean Lane skate park (210)

Just to prove that he is not a one-trick-pony (which he absolutely isn’t) here is a non-rabbit piece by Nevergiveup in Dean Lane. This is a nicely thought out piece with great colours and elements in it and it is so very easy on the eye. The first thought I get is that it looks a bit brand-like and would work very nicely on a beer mat (do they still exist?).

The letters ZBOK I think are a crew or something similar that Nevergiveup and some other Polish artists use. It translates as pervert or deviant… not an entirely unexpected word for an art form that is edgy and rebellious. I guess there is something a little paradoxical about such a nice design for the word zbok. Great piece by Nevergiveup, just a shame I didn’t get there when it was clean.

2179. Bedminster

Yes, another one, and still so many more to come that I have seen from the car, but haven’t yet been able to investigate on foot. These rabbits by Nevergiveup have certainly lived up to their fecund reputation and are multiplying all over the city.

I found this one while killing a few minutes waiting for my son who was training in Bristol South swimming pool. I don’t remember exactly the road it was in which is why this one gets the broad location ‘Bedminster’. All Nevergiveup’s bunnies are rather cute, but this one especially so.

2155. Little Paradise (2)

I think that perhaps I should have posted this yesterday, what with it being Easter Sunday and all that, but hindsight is a fickle fellow and treats us with a level of contempt. This beautiful bunny from Nevergiveup is in one of my favourite named streets in Bristol – Little Paradise. There are two bricked out windows in this alleyway, the other is occupies by a gorgeous Feoflip piece that has survived since Upfest 2017.

This bunny is a little dumpier than many but is no less charming, in fact I think that this is one of my faves. The pink background decoration sets the rabbit off really nicely, and the whole thing is full of good cheer. I am getting so far behind with the rabbits, I have seen at least seven newish ones all over Bristol, but not yet had a chance to photograph them. Nevergiveup has an Instagram account called @followmyrabbits, and you can see his full collection there.

2138. Nelson Street (12)

It’s in my head now, so I have to say it, but while looking at this wonderful bunny by Nevergiveup (#followmyrabbits), I hear the football chant “you see him here, you see him there, you see him every f***ing where” and that adequately describes this artist’s rabbits.

This charming fellow can be found in anything but charming surroundings at the top of some rather unpleasant concrete steps rising up from Nelson Street. It is great that this artist brings a glimmer of light and hope to such places. So many more rabbits to come.

2121. M32 roundabout J3 (134)

It is always great fun to see how street artists can play with each other’s work. For example, this piece is not a collaboration, it is an add-on. The original work was a RAW collaboration the centrepiece of which was this fabulous character by Jaksta.

Turnover on this wall has been unusually high this spring and when ‘the monday club’ a group of artists including Nevergiveup, Tasha Bee, Soap, Run Z and Zake set about painting here, Nevergiveup worked around Jaksta’s piece almost like a respect thing, his bunnies leaning in towards the character, together with a carefully, thoughtfully resprayed background.

Often Jaksta’s characters are well known film stars or personalities, but I’m not sure I know who this is. What we have here is two pieces for the price of one… and some more bunnies for the collection.

2000. Dean Lane skate park (188)

Those rabbits, they just keep coming and you can never quite be sure where the next one is going to leap out at you from. You can be sure however that Nevergiveup will never give up and will keep spraying these little characters around not only Bristol, but wherever he finds himself.

This tall thin rabbit is on the gateway into the North Entrance of the Dean Lane skate park and is really skilfully sprayed on a highly textured stone surface. Just another reminder of the fun and quality created by this Polish artist.
