4381. Dean Lane skate park (481)

Truly, good things come to those who wait, and what a long wait it has been to see a public piece by Pelmo, but this is one of three very recent pieces that I know about and it is great to see he is out and about painting again.

This small piece in Dean Lane skate park features one of his oversized characters flipping a little skateboard. What a joy to find this. I have long been a fan of Pelmo’s unusual work, that tells stories about people of extraordinary proportions doing ordinary things. There is something most endearing and compassionate in the way Pelmo portrays his characters with love and affection. Watch this space for more.

3763. M32 roundabout J3 (329)

Ooh, a very lovely piece from Ryder on the M32 roundabout, full of fun and movement. Part of a wider collaboration, but worth singling out because it is just too good to share the limelight.

What could be better than a RYDER riding on a skateboard – all in bright green and five cheeky little characters. If nothing else the piece is a memorable one that definitely stands out from the crowd. This is Ryder at his playful best.

3130. Dean Lane skate park (342)

Laic217 keeps knocking it out of the park (skate park in this instance). This is a piece that was painted for the Dean Lane Hardcore event a few weeks back and captures the atmosphere and essence of the event brilliantly.

The skateboarding skeleton is smoking and drinking and the rather tatty looking skateboard is on fire with the tricks being demonstrated. Somehow, Laic217 has managed to work the perspective of the crouching skeleton in a way that shows the movement and forces while calmly holding a beer can in his left hand.

Next to this piece are the three rabbits by Nevergiveup that I posted a few days ago holding up score cards for the achievements of Laic217’s skater. My assessment for the artwork is a 10, 10, 10.

2443. M32 Spot (49)

Well, here is something a little different from Nightwayss down at the M32 Spot. One of the columns transporting us to a warm skateboarding scene, an appropriate piece for this spot which is a DIY wet-weather skate park.

These columns are such a difficult place to paint a meaningful story, but Nightwayss does it with great skill and assurance, and just for good measure he includes one of his monkeys (as if he wouldn’t). This is a refreshing and wonderful piece from this prolific Bristol artist.

2439. Rear Oxford Street, Weston-super-Mare

I recently took a trip (mainly to give the dog somewhere different to experience) to Weston-super-Mare, and it hadn’t changed much from the last time I visited a couple of years back. What I was able to do however was explore the town for JPS street art, and naturally this is the place to do it.

In my view, JPS doesn’t come to Bristol nearly enough, but WSM is his manor and that is where so much of his work is. I think this piece of a youing skateboarder is reasonably recent, but I have no real way of knowing. I understand that JPS now lives in Bavaria, but I am sure that he returns now and again to his old stomping ground.

This piece, like all of his stencils is beautifully intricate and has been specifically placed to give the impression that the child is skating over the street sign. This is just the first of many posts I will be bringing to Natural Adventures over the coming days/months from WSM featuring JPS, Fawn and PZY.

1560. Dean Lane skate park (137)

A perfect evolution stencil for skaters, using the well known ‘ascent of man’ graphic from The Agent. This is an old photograph, and it feels like forever since I saw anything new from The Agent.

Maybe he has given up painting on the streets, or maybe he is taking a break or perhaps he is now taking a back seat, now that his son Angus is on the ascendency. Whatever his reasons I hope he hits the streets again soon – maybe for Upfest, which I know he gets involved with – because I miss his mischievous Minions.

 

807. Moon Street (30)

I have no idea who this is by, but it really tickled me when I saw it. This is one of those pieces that you really have to keep your eyes peeled to be able to see. Low down and quite small. A dog on a skateboard. A paste up. What is not to like here?
