Now it is the turn of The Art of Sok to celebrate Minto’s birthday with this outstanding piece in the tunnel. The Art of Sok is one of the best cartoon-style character artists out there, creating near-perfection with each piece he paints.

I am guessing that the character in this piece is a werewolf, given that there was a Halloween theme happening in this paint jam, and he has a full moon on the back of his jacket. The cheeky character is holding a thick marker pen and appears to be having a lot of fun. Behind is a wonderful silhouetted spooky landscape, which ran through several pieces on this side of the wall. Beautiful artwork and a fun design.

Donz, St Werburghs, Bristol, November 2025

The fun part of birthday paint jams is that it forces some of the participants out of their comfort zones by painting the letters of the birthday boy/girl rather than their own familiar letters. This is an exercise that appears to be easier for some than for others. Donz seems to have coped just fine with this delightful piece for Minto.

The letters art typically colourful and upbeat. No need for a signature here. Donz’ work is usually quite flat, without drop shadows, which is no bad thing, it is part of his style and presentation. Everything here is neat and tidy, and he has set the letters on an interesting light blue wash with a kind of cityscape silhouette along the top.

Hypo, St Werburghs, Bristol, November 2025

You’ll have cottoned on by now that Minto’s birthday paint jam in St Werburghs tunnel was very well attended indeed. This piece is a fine tribute by Hypo, who often paints alongside Minto these days, so it has extra relevance and potency.

Hypo has painted the letters MINTO, but entirely in his recognisable style. What is interesting is that, while HYPO is a word that can have some bilateral symmetry, MINTO is not, so this Hypo piece does look quite different in shape from his customary pieces. There is lots to admire in this graffiti writing, and we see the continuation of using little spheres to help decorate the work, something Hypo appears to be enjoying these days. A lovely piece from a friend to a friend.

Feek, St Werburghs, Bristol, November 2025

Feek rarely paints our streets these days, so seeing this piece in the tunnel for Minto’s birthday was a particular joy. His zany cartoon style lends itself so well to the street scene, offering mini stories and curiosities for those lucky enough to see his work.

In this humorous character piece, a rather fed-up brain is taking leave of the skull it belongs to, declaring ‘that’s it, I’m off’ while the hapless skull utters the word ‘wuh?’. An amusing story perfectly portrayed with clarity and detail. This is a lovely piece by Feek and a reminder of what we are missing.

Rusk, St Werburghs, Bristol, November 2025

Minto’s birthday paint jam in the tunnel is the gift that keeps on giving, and I continue the series with this beauty from Rusk, who has had a little burst of activity this Autumn. The combination piece includes a Frankenstein’s monster character in keeping with the Halloween theme for the paint jam.

Rusk has presented his letters beautifully spelling out MINTO with the monster in place of the ‘i’. The neat and tidy letters with a drop shadow disappearing into the centre is set on a spooky background, which was common to a few pieces in the tunnel. I am loving this Rusk phase, as he doesn’t paint as often as he used to.

7310. Cumberland Basin

Dibz, Cumberland Basin, Bristol, October 2025

This is what a birthday celebration piece to self looks like… by Dibz for Dibz. The calibre of artists that turned out for this paint jam was pretty high, as you might expect, and the quality of the birthday boy’s piece reflects the quality of the others.

It is easy to get quite blazé about Dibz’ outstanding wildstyle graffiti pieces, because each one is utterly on-point, and it is what we expect, but this perfection betrays the talent, experience and hard work that Dibz puts in to achieve these incredible results. Alongside the outstanding writing, Dibz has added a little gravestone and cloud-covered moon to pick up on the Halloween theme running through the pieces in this paint jam. All so good.

7306. Cumberland Basin

The Art of Sok, Cumberland Basin, Bristol, October 2025

Last year I managed to catch up with The Art of Sok several times, and it seems that the artist crossed the border several times to paint in Bristol. This year his visits have been less frequent, but he has definitely left his mark, not least with this stunner for Dibz’ birthday.

I wasn’t expecting too many Halloween pieces this year, but as it turned out, there were quite a few. (Note to self – do a Halloween gallery). The Art of Sok has created the perfect pumpkin character painted in his outstanding cartoon style. Everything is superbly balanced and the fills and borders immaculate. This is cartoon character street art at its very best. Bravo!

7305. St Werburghs tunnel (543)

3Dom, St Werburghs, Bristol, November 2025

This is yet another classy piece from the Minto birthday paint jam in St Werburghs tunnel, and I am not even half way through posting these yet. The artist this time is 3Dom with some signature graffiti writing. The photographs are rather poor and the colour quality rather different from the two angles. I think I have a setting wrong on my phone. Maybe it is time for an upgrade…

The letters spell out his name, but what makes this so recognisable as a piece by him is the way the letters are filled with ‘organic’ shapes and patterns and the rows of spots and dots. 3Dom is equally talented at graffiti writing and his extraordinary surreal character pieces, an all round superstar really.

Lokey, St Werburghs, Bristol, November 2025

What a gorgeous, gorgeous piece of anamorphic graffiti writing from Lokey in the tunnel. It is of course another birthday tribute to Minto, and an absolute stunner at that. This particular paint jam certainly brought out the best in several artists.

Lokey doesn’t paint all that often which is rather a pity, because there is something aesthetically pleasing about his letter shapes, and his technique of crafting depth through light and shade. It is all very clever stuff and he is a master of his craft. A lovely piece.

7301. Cumberland Basin

It is obvious that two paint jams have been giving me plenty of material to write about; Dibz’ and Minto’s birthdays, I think both turned 50 this autumn. This Halloween Count Dracula piece by Jody was to celebrate Dibz half- century.

As portrait pieces by Jody go, this one isn’t, in my view, his best, not because of the obvious quality, but because it somehow doesn’t quite sit right with me. It happens from time to time and I can’t explain it. Perhaps it is the cape, which could do with more texture and folds, or maybe the red lips… of course, I am being unbelievably picky, it is a great portrait piece by a superb artist.
