Yet another really sharp piece from Deamze, using colours that he likes to use together tucked away in Bedminster. This clever piece bisects his wildstyle writing and character diagonally from top left to bottom right, the top half being monochrome pink and the bottom monochrome green.
It is a striking work that demonstrated Deamze’s talents to the full. I am not sure who the cartoon character is…answers on a postcard.
Well this is an absolute cracker from Deamze on the wall in Stapleton Road at the M32 Spot. Really sharp work in monochrome against a yellow backdrop. I can honestly say that this is one of my favourites from this Bristol master.
This bit of wall has only recently been properly taken up by steet artists, where before it was just a few untidy tags. It has become a fine stretch of wall with four great pieces, one of which, the rocket man by SPZero76, I have already posted.
Taking a closer look at this piece, you can see the fine detail and the extra sharp lettering making up the name Deam. Other details really cap this piece off, such as the yellow tinted glasses worn by the character (I’m not too sure who it is meant to be) and the shadows cast by the little rocks in the foreground. A really great piece.
This work simply made me laugh. It is by the artist Pelmo, whose piece from Upfest 2016 passed me by, which is highly regrettable. I’m not entirely convinced that this was painted on the first two days of the festival, either that or I am losing my touch and missed it.
I love the understated tones used for the piece and the story is there for all to see. It is a witty piece, which would appear to draw some influence from the Gary Larson cartoon style.
About himself, the artist says this in the programme profile:
‘I love painting a good character, a dramatic expression or a body beaten into shape by a little too much life. I generate my ideas by sketching in pubs and paint mostly for fun with the occasional commission.’
Sounds like a good life to me.
A recent piece from Cheo on a wall that you need to go looking for. This is the second pairing of Cheo and Soker pieces that I have found here, but I expect they have been spraying here for years.
Some really lovely wildstyle writing and a fun character too. Cheo and his king bee just keep on pleasing. The image below is the last piece he had up here which was photographed in March 2017.
This wonderful piece appeared a few days after Upfest had ended, and I guess Feoflip decided to stick around and improve some bare walls. I really love this piece, the soft pastel colours give the piece the look of an illustration. The character looks like it has just walked off the pages of a children’s picture book. I would love to read that story.
Feoflip was unknown to me before Upfest, but I have now seen several of his pieces all over Bristol, and will be sharing them over the coming weeks. He is fast becoming one of my favourite artists. I love the combination of organic and mechanical, it works very well, as with his piece at Ashton Gate School.
The more observant reader may also notice the Gregos mask just to the left of this piece which I wrote about last year.
A little jaunt back to May this year, in fact polling day if I remember correctly, when I made my first and so far only trip down to Devon Road. So many treats in one day in one road.
This is not the only Deamze work in the road, there is also his Ren and Stimpy. I am not too good on cartoon characters, especially ones that weren’t part of my growing up, so I am not too sure who this little character is (is it batfink?)…nor the frog, Not that it matters too much, it is another great work by the master.
