426. Moon Street (12)

Laic 217 is rather a prolific artist in Bristol and this is one of his pieces from earlier this year. It seems I can hardly look anywhere and not see one of his works. As I write this, I found another of his pieces in St Werberghs Tunnel today which I’ll get round to writing about sometime.

Here he has collaborated with Cort, about whom I know absolutely nothing, so if anyone has something to add about him, please let me know. As is often seen with Laic 217’s work, he has sprayed his name and a character alongside. The character bears all the branding and look of acid house.

I have said many times in my posts, that this kind of work is what Bristol is all about and Laic 217 is one of those rare artists who seems to spray all around the City…here in Stokes Croft, at Deaners, at the M32 and in St Werberghs. Just gotta like him.

411. Moon Street (11)

There is something comforting about seeing Laic217’s work. He tends to paint in two forms: writing of his name with a character incorporated or an acid-house melting face.

This is the third of these melting faces that I have come across and it is a great addition to the series of which the first and second have both been posted on this blog.

I like his work and see how it is getting sharper with each new piece I come across. Laic217 is a prolific artist and appears to favour Moon street and the M32 roundabout for his work. I love his stuff, and I think it really epitomises the Bristol scene – raw, edgy and fun.

396. Moon Street (10)

There are not enough great words to describe the work of Sled One. He is one of the most talented graffiti/street artists in Bristol, whether it is wildstyle writing or freestyled scenes like this one, he is without doubt a master of his craft.

This is a crazy and fun picture, and as with most of his creative scenes, there is surely a story going on here. I don’t know what the story is, but  it incorporates a bull in a camper van and some other weird stuff going on. There are some similarities to the work of 3Dom, in that they both can create these dream-like landscapes and stories.

This piece needs looking at to enjoy it, and I looked and I enjoyed. Spend a while seeing all the little details and see if you can figure it out. Another triumph from the awesome Sled One.

379. Moon Street (16)

One of the great things about Upfest is all the ‘extras’ that get left behind by artists who come over to Bristol for a few days. Hunting these down is all part of the fun for street rats. This is a wonderful set of three wheatpastes left by Din Din, whose ‘official’ stencil was utterly fantastic.

Here on the North side of town it is great to see some of Din Din’s work. Although it is already looking a bit scruffy, it is still a pleasure to see it. I am not too sure who the pictures are of other than they are heavily tattooed men, but I like them regardless. More of these ‘naughties’ to come.

Another pause from Upfest 2016.

With my weekly trips to London, and tons of pictures from Upfest, it is all too easy to neglect my first love…Bristol street art, here every day on the streets, right in front of my eyes. I took a bunch of photographs on my way to work a few days ago, and here is one of the highlights.

This wall has been home to a piece by Laic217 for quite a while but has been replaced by this magnificent 3Dom work. Skulls seem to hold a fascination for street artists…(note to self – special skulls post)…this skull though is one happy, peaceful soul.

I think this piece is quite new. It is always exciting for someone like me to find the new stuff and see it for the first time. Yet another winner from 3Dom.

325. Moon Street (14)

A little while ago, I took the short loop into Moon Street – I do this about once a week – from Stokes Croft, just to see if there was anything new. It seems that turnover there has slowed a bit in recent weeks so I was pleased to find this collaboration. It is something quite different in light backwashed colours. It almost feels as if the pieces are incomplete…I have returned since, and thy are unchanged.

The right hand side of the two is clearly by Fois – the extra touch of the cowboy hat rounds this writing off perfectly.

The writing on the left hand side though is a mystery. I don’t know who it is by, and given that Fois seems not to use digital social media (at least publicly), it is hard to establish the artist. It is one I will have to return to if I find out anything more.

UPDATE: Thank you Duncan. The second piece is signed Ysae, and is similar to other writing by the same Artist in the Bristol/Swindon area. Unfortunately at this time I know no more than that.

Although nowhere near the site of Upfest, I fully expect most of the Stokes Croft and Bearpit areas to get complete make-overs during the festival weekend.

256. Moon Street (13)

This is a collaboration, or at least two pieces that were completed simultaneously, between Kid Crayon and Subtle. I have posted a great deal of Kid Crayon’s works, and once again he appears to have dispensed with his trademark crayon in favour of a spray can.

I know little about Subtle, and can’t think that I have seen his stuff before, or if I have, I haven’t registered it. This is a decent wildstyle burner. Both pieces have been in place for a month, and thus far respected by taggers. This seems to happen a lot with Kid Crayon’s work, it is rarely defaced.

As a combination these work well. I am a big fan of Kid Crayon, so these get a big ‘high-five’ from me.

243. Moon Street (12)

Another wonderful pasteup from the recent visit by Tian. Again he has taken a still (a promotional shot?) from a film, which I haven’t been able to identify yet (any ideas?) and turned it into a monochrome stunner.

As always, location is key to a wheatpaster’s  art, and this is no exception, it looks splendid amongst all the other posters on this wall. The council worker ripped off loads of posters, but thankfully left this Tian piece in situ. It was still there yesterday.

218. Moon Street (11)

This is a rather nice wildstyle piece by 3Dom, which demonstrates his versatility. I would normally associate him with his otherworldly characters in curious postures. Not this time though, although the gaping mouth alludes to the kind of work he normally produces.

A really beautiful work form one of Bristol’s best in the honeypot Moon Street. Looking at it  more carefully it would appear to be a tribute piece, there is RIP and ‘For Madden’ written at the sides. I believe the tribute is for Madden Ekons – and the lettering spells this out. Madden was a graffiti artist who died in 2014. More tributes here.

190. Moon Street (10)

Laic217 is certainly providing me with loads of material at the moment.This is his latest work in a very busy Moon Street. In my view, this is the best that I have seen of his work so far. Weird, trippy and well executed – perfect for the wall it has been sprayed on.
