Sweet and simple, this is a classy piece of writing in the tunnel from Nightwayss. His recent awakening with the start of sprinng has been put on hold, just like all the other artists by the Covid-19 outbreak and lock down rules. I think it would be hard to justify spraying a wall as essential exercise. Some artists have taken to painting on boards in their gardens/yards and I will get my board out of the greenhouse, just as soon as the robins that have taken up residence in there have hatched and fledged

Sometimes less is more and I think that is the case with this piece from Nightwayss. There is something about this that is very easy on the eye, its simplicity, the font style perhaps. Just because it is simple doesn’t mean it is easy. Great care has been taken with the piece and it is not a simple throw up, just look at the background for evidence of that. A nice one from Nightwayss.
It is good news indeed that Nightwayss has started to paint outside again and is sharing his talent with the citizens of Bristol after a bit of a layoff over the winter. What I love about his work is that he switches things up a lot. Sometimes writing, sometimes characters or scenes and sometimes a combination. He is not only talented but is versatile too.

This column piece is an imaginative and aesthetically pleasing piece using the space brilliantly. A monkey (of course) is, as we all know, trying to escape from a spray can and would account for at least one of these wonderful creatures appearing in nearly all of his work. Great greens and a great concept nicely painted. More from Nightwayss to come soon.
Just wow! Another epic collaboration in St Werburghs tunnel, this time from Rezwonk and Nightwayss, featuring Dennis the Menace from the fabulous old comic the Beano. I am guessing that this might have been prompted by the recent Storm Dennis that wrought havoc across the midlands and the rain from which is still causing flooding in Ironbridge, Shrewsbury and Worcester.

I took a walk with the dog last week to the tunnel and got lucky, because the pair were still hard at work painting this outstanding piece. The dog became a little unsettled when Nightways was jumping up and down rollering his pink border along the top of his piece. The barking was loud and I had to move on, and returned a little while later when he had calmed down. My own Gnasher slightly cramped my style.

It was great to stop and chat with both artists and an additional bonus was that DJ Perks was down there too admiring the work and we were able to catch up too. It seems that I missed Paul H (again) by only a few minutes, but that is how it happens… beig in the right place at the right time.

Both of these pieces are stunning and it was really interesting watching them bring their work to life. I find the whole process of spray painting totally counter-intuitive, and I think I am going to have to put in a whole load more practice this spring and summer. Rezwonk was writing REZER with the fills, which he then put outlines on; in other words did the colouring in before there was anything to colour in (does that make sense?).
I understand that Nightwayss painnted the Dennis and Gnasher characters from pictures on his phone. What a talent to be able to do that. It was great to see some recent work from him as he has been a little dormant on the streets this winter. This NIGHT absolutely makes up for it though.

All in all, this is a spectacular collaboration and lies in the same place where Rezwonk and Decay painted a Dr Seuss Cat in the Hat scene last year. Keep it going folks… even with the difficuly light conditions this is a fabulous wall.

It has been a little while since I last saw some writing from Nightwayss, so it was a nice surprise to find this ‘NIGHT’ on the M32 cycle path. There is an interesting colour palette and a highly complex design, but I have to say it doesn’t quite work for me and I can’t put my finger on it.

Maybe the lack of clear definition around the letters is a little unconventional, and the colours tend to merge a bit. Also the texture of the wall isn’t very helpful with this busy design. I fear I might protest too much, and anyway, photobombing dog seems to rather like it.
Well, Nightwayss has smashed it again and shows his incredible versatility with these two magnificent skulls on the M32 cycle path. And the monkey/ape? I think one of these skulls belongs to one of our hairy cousins, but I am not too sure which (the ape that is, not the skull).

The colours of theses pictures may vary a little and that is due to the purchase of a new computer and use of a new photo editor which I am just getting used to. I’m sure things will settle down soon. So good to see this creative and beautifully executed piece by Nightwayss, especially as it is right next to some more skulls from Laic217 during a session painting together.
We exist for the time being in a divided nation, but there is growing consensus that Boris Johnson is wreckless and is being found out for the blatant opportunist he appears to be. I think that many (particularly in Bristol) citizens would have some sympathy with this fine work from Nightwayss.

Commensurate with many of his recent sketches, this piece is in black and white and all the more effective for it. There is something about the style of this one that reminds me a bit of the excellent Winsor McCay and his comic strips ‘Little Nemo in Slumberland’. Nightwayss continues to impress with his fine work.

Well, here is something a little different from Nightwayss down at the M32 Spot. One of the columns transporting us to a warm skateboarding scene, an appropriate piece for this spot which is a DIY wet-weather skate park.

These columns are such a difficult place to paint a meaningful story, but Nightwayss does it with great skill and assurance, and just for good measure he includes one of his monkeys (as if he wouldn’t). This is a refreshing and wonderful piece from this prolific Bristol artist.
Well would you believe it? This huge wall by Nightwayss has given him the opportunity to show us what he can do on a large scale and by way of a commission, and he has risen to the challenge and excelled.

Obviously this is a Marvel comic-inspired piece that features Thor, Spiderman, Black Panther and a lady I’m not quite sure about. Each of the characters is created in an active pose, set on a dark cosmic background.

The piece is almost impossible to photograph because of a tree, in full leaf, directly in front of it. Perhaps in the winter it might be possible to get a slightly better shot of it. The piece is of the highest quality and I am sure that it will have made the owner of the wall very happy indeed.

I cannot fault the piece, but would have liked to have seen a little signature monkey somewhere. Maybe there is one hidden, I’d certainly like to think so. Bravo Nightwayss.
Discovering St George skate park has been something of a revelation for me. I knew of its existence, but just never bothered to find it, that is until recently. I guess that there is a challenge for artists and ‘hunters’ alike as certain areas become gentrified such as the Carriageworks and others get closed down to artists altogether, like The Bearpit, new areas become more attractive and I think St George is one of those.

This is a really jolly collaboration between Fiva (Fiver) and Nightwayss on one of the ramps in the skate park. Fiva gives us some straightforward block letters with a white fill and black dots, set on a black background with white dots. Yet another fine Fiva piece.

Tucked away to the right hand side of Fiva’s work is a brilliant little story of a naughty monkey playing with a box of matches by Nightwayss. This is an engaging piece that just seems to blend in with the concrete so well and almost has a 3D effect where it looks like the monkey might just decide to wander off at any minute.

Personally I think this is one of Nightwayss’ best pieces, not so much in the artwork, but more in the narrative. A pocket-sized piece that has enough detail and credibility to feel almost real. I love this a lot. I’m beginning to think that a Nightwayss gallery might be on the cards before too long. Watch this space.
