287. Unity Street (1)

The area around Gardiner Haskins, the Bristol department store, is somewhere I like to go about once a month, as the turnover here is lower than at other favoured haunts for graffiti artists in Bristol. On my most recent visit I came across this lovely 3Dom piece.

3Dom has a very fine wildstyle style and this is a really perfect example of it. The cat, of course is slightly weird but brilliant. I love most of 3Dom’s work and this is certainly one that works for me. More pieces to come from this road soon.

218. Moon Street (11)

This is a rather nice wildstyle piece by 3Dom, which demonstrates his versatility. I would normally associate him with his otherworldly characters in curious postures. Not this time though, although the gaping mouth alludes to the kind of work he normally produces.

A really beautiful work form one of Bristol’s best in the honeypot Moon Street. Looking at it  more carefully it would appear to be a tribute piece, there is RIP and ‘For Madden’ written at the sides. I believe the tribute is for Madden Ekons – and the lettering spells this out. Madden was a graffiti artist who died in 2014. More tributes here.

176. M32 roundabout Junction 3 (3)

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. I have been keeping my powder dry with this one, although I don’t quite know why. When I see a great piece of street art, I really ought to share it straight away.

3Dom is one of the most creative and imaginative of the Bristol street/graffiti artists. His works nearly all have a surreal feel to them and contain unique blends of shapes and colours that are rarely seen elsewhere. His imagination runs riot with this piece and he introduces different textures and shadings in this character. I love the green body and arm, that resemble a close-up of a spider’s leg.

The piece can be dated as having been sprayed post-Bowie’s death, as there is a mention of him and Buzz. What is pleasing about this is it is so clean, and as yet untagged. One of my absolute favourite pieces this year (so far).

166. Jamaica Street (4)

Following on seamlessly from from post 165 you can see that the PRSC outdoor gallery in now occupied by Soker and 3Dom.

There is a lovely thread of vapour that joins the two pieces coming from the mouth of the curious 3Dom creature on the right (when ever was a 3Dom piece not curious?) and weaving around the Soker burner.

I love these collaborations that bring together wildstyle burners with more conventional art pieces – more will follow.

142. Brookfield Avenue

In a sleepy side street just off the Gloucester Road by the Bristol Flyer pub is one of the most wonderful and colourful collaborations in Bristol. This triptych embraces the distinct styles of three local artists. Epok, 3Dom and Voyder.

Epok is renowned for his futuristic wildstyle burners. 3Dom introduces fantastical characters to his works and livens up walls all over this part of the City. Voyder is usually associated with faces as centre pieces surrounded by other works. In this instance though it would appear that the artist has also opted for a wildstyle burner.

The whole wall looks like it has been set on its side and would appear to have a continuous thread from left to right (or bottom to top). The clouds are on their sides in 3Dom’s and Voyder’s pieces. I have tried looking at it sideways, but am none the wiser about what it all means…not that it matters really. I love this wall and visit it quite regularly, just to look.

134. Princes Place

I had a great stroll along the Gloucester Road this morning, and photographed loads of street art, some of it very recent, other pieces, like this one, that have been around for some time.

This area would appear to be one of 3Dom’s favourite haunts, and there numerous works by him nearby. This one ‘when philosophers are kings’ dates back to at least 2010. The colours have faded a little, but it really has something about it.

It is a great wall, and I am a little surprised that it hasn’t been sprayed over. It is interesting that 3Dom’s work is rarely tagged or marked, I guess his pieces are respected, and rightly so.

98. Stokes Croft, Slix (2)

I’ve been going through some old pictures from my iPhone today, and found a few street art images from a long while before I started this blog. This particular picture struck me, because I recently posted a 3Dom piece from this exact location.

This work, also by 3Dom, was photographed in July 2014…it seems that this wall is his.

There is also a subtle tribute to Mibsy. This is a nice work, but long since gone.

 

87. Moon Street (2)

On the site of a former SPQR spaceman (which for a while was thought to be a Banksy), there is now one of 3Dom’s latest creations. This has the unmistakable hallmarks of his work although it is unsigned.

More research is needed to understand what the alien in a sandscape is all about, but his works are always imaginative, colourful and dreamlike.

Our friend the gnome stencil has also made another appearance, and was added at a later date. I love this 3Dom work on a very famous wall in the Stokes Croft area.

83. Stokes Croft, Slix (1)

A recent 3Dom work in the heart of Stokes Croft that depicts a sad picture of the future, with only one leaf surviving. There is something of the ‘Lorax’ about the scene. Love is the answer.

77. Bolton Road (1)

A recent political mural just off the Gloucester Road (which eventually becomes Cheltenham Road and the Stokes Croft area) caught my eye a couple of weeks ago.

This collaboration by Feek (the main character) and 3Dom (the octopus and ‘citizens’) looks to be a poke at the right wing politics of the Tories and UKIP (whose party colours are purple and yellow).

Feek is a local Bristol artist who links up with quite a few of the artists, like Sepr, 3Dom and Soker,  amongst others. Annoyingly I am struggling to find out much more about him.

Bolton Road is more of a narrow alley way, and this mural is rather difficult to photograph.
