4101. Dean Lane skate park (442)

Dibz is an immensely talented graffiti writer and whose status is in the highest echelons of writers in Bristol and, I dare say, the UK. He manages to turn out beautifully designed piece after piece, never letting his standards drop, and the creativity of his designs and outstanding colour palettes is of the highest order.

This piece in Dean Lane is extra special because it is a birthday celebration for his mother, which is really touching. For this piece, he has really gone to town, with all the elements coming together perfectly. Great design, superb colours, tight lines, beautifully crafted fills and 3D shadows. In short this is an outstanding piece, and about as good as it gets.

3297. Brunel Way Bridge (69)

I am reliably informed (Thank you, Paul) it was Face 1st’s birthday last week and this piece was part of a birthday/Halloween paint jam with friends to celebrate. The whole wall was a creative smorgasbord of delights and this horror Face 1st face was right up there.

The face character appears to be holding bits of a skeleton in one hand and a rather nasty looking ball and chain in the other and her head is split open with what looks like molten lava instead of a brain. It is certainly a vibrant piece, full of movement and action and I would say appropriate for Halloween. Happy Birthday.

* I am quite pleased with this board I painted this morning for my son’s eighteenth birthday… before he woke up. He was very happy with it. Proud moment for a proud dad who has seen his little boy grow into a man.

2557. Wilder Street (37)

I can’t think of a time when Sled One hasn’t been on fire. His work is always of such an exceptionally high standard and not only is it technically brilliant, but he combines that excellence with a fertile imagination and interesting concepts.

This piece on the ‘Where the Wall’ curated area is a beautiful (belated) birthday work for his frequent painting buddy Smak. It gives me a warm feeling to know that these guys pay tribute to each other in this kind of way and reassures me that the street art community is built on friendship and decency. The piece itself is a creative spelling of SMAK and is painted with a fabulous colour palette underpinned by a deep red and a scarlet. What a nice birthday present to get.

P.S. it is my birthday in January… any chance…?
