4146. M32 roundabout J3 (371)

As mentioned before in recent posts, Logoe has been hitting the streets of Bristol hard this winter, sometimes on his own and sometimes in partnership with either Silent Hobo or Haka. This piece on the M32 roundabout was with the latter.

Haka’s distinctive and rather unusual lettering style occupies the right hand side of the wall and is painted in chrome, with typically bright and colourful yellows and oranges as a backdrop. There is something joyful and mischievous about his letters, that I like a lot.

To the left is another fabulous script letter piece from Logoe, spelling out his name with real class and style. No philosophising or quotes to accompany this one, just a delicious array of spots, some drifting across from Haka’s writing beside. A comely collaborative effort.

4129. St Werburghs tunnel (269)

Logoe continues to hit Bristol walls hard, this time with his friend Silent Hobo, to create this lovely collaboration on the entrance to the tunnel in St Werburghs. Their content and styles are so very different, but there is a chemistry there that brings the whole thing together seamlessly.

The writing by Logoe is distinctive with its thin script-like letters and gorgeous fills, decorated with spots and stars along the length. The youth, so brilliantly portrayed by Silent Hobo, is wearing a blue hoodie and sporting big hair and glasses. I am not at all certain what the axe is all about though. So good to see these two combining again.

4104. New Stadium Road (36)

I met Logoe for the first time a couple of weeks ago at this spot while he was painting a collaboration with Silent Hobo, one of his old mates. Their collaboration, I don’t think even lasted a day, and I only have one WIP photograph of it, such is the ephemeral nature of street art in popular spots. Logoe comes across as a lovely bloke and was more than happy to talk about his work and his trips to Bristol.

Unlike his collaboration piece, this one has lasted well and I believe is still there, or at least it was last time I visited this spot. The delicate colours work really well on this script LOGOE entering. With many of his pieces Logoe likes to add a little quote or phrase and here he gives us:

“They say (she) dodged a bullet… but it put her in the ground”

This sounds like a lyric, but I am not too sure what from. Anyhow, it works well with this lovely piece. Logoe also told me that he had missed out a word. I am guessing it was the word ‘she’ that I inserted in brackets.

4051. Sparke Evans Park (18)

Finding and photographing this wonderful collaboration between Haka and Logoe was a very special moment, because I met Haka for the first time, just as he was tidying up and photographing his work; and what a phenomenally nice bloke he is.

On the left is a fairly typical piece of block letter writing combined with a cheeky character. His somewhat chaotic style belies his talent as a graffiti artist of great merit. It is always great to see too his everlasting tributes to CK1.

On the right is another Logoe piece from his recent prolific assault on Bristol’s walls. Haka was able to shed some light on this peak activity. I understand that Logoe lives in Pembrokeshire and only occasionally visits Bristol. When he does come he brings with him loads of sketches and ideas for pieces and paints like there is no tomorrow. This is, of course, great news for us. This script style piece decorated with shades of grey and purple carries the message “Just because you grow old… you don’t have to grow up”. Makes sense to me. More to come from this Logoe marathon.

4037. M32 roundabout (358)

This lovely collaboration on the M32 roundabout took me a little while to unravel, although once unravelled it is blindingly obvious. To the left is a very ‘Haka’ Haka piece and the right hand side is a blended collaboration between Logoe and Sepr.

I probably haven’t posted nearly as many Haka pieces as I should have over the years, and might need to do a bit of digging in my archives to get a few more out there. This is a simple but joyful piece of writing from Haka with the ever-present shout out to CK1 RIP.

The Logoe/Sepr mash up is simply brilliant, and the second recent piece in a burst from Logoe who appears to have woken from a long slumber. The letters are by Logoe in his unique script style and the writing isn’t his usual message or lyric, but  the year spelled out. The fills are beautifully done and colours reflective of the time of year.  Sepr has contributed a face and hand into the mix and as a whole it works really well. This must have been a fun session.

This is the first of a swathe of wonderful pieces by Logoe, who seems to have sparked into life with at least five pieces in a little over a week. It took me a moment to recognise the artist, because it is such a long time since I last saw any of his work.

The script-style writing spells out Logoe and the vertical fill autumn colours in the letters is truly exceptional, looking like huge paint drips on the wall. Many of Logoe’s pieces have some philosophical or song writing in them, scrawled over his work, and here it says ‘I sware on my muver’s life’. A lovely piece, and watch this space for a whole lot more.

3256. M32 cycle path (79)

An artist that I feel I don’t see nearly enough of is Logoe. I first encountered his work in April 2017 while he was collaborating with Silent Hobo, and it was on that occasion that I was told that Logoe was returning to painting on the streets after a long lay-off, and that he had been a bit of a legend in the past – Silent Hobo’s words.

This piece is typical of his thin hand-written style letters. The letters are beautifully picked out spelling Logoe, but it is the additional decorations that bring the writing to life. The dots through the middle and horizontal thin lines that at first I thought were drips add real interest. It is always really good to stumble across one of these.

2938. Dean Lane skate park (310)

On the long wall at Dean Lane back in September of last year was this rather unusual piece by Logoe. It seems that at the back end of last year, Logoe was quite productive and painted a few pieces like this with his central writing overwritten with smaller messages, The whiole thing looks like it has been tagged, but it is in fact all his own work.

I’m not quite sure what all the smaller script says but I thik it goes like this:

‘Baby we living in the moment, been a menace for the longest, but I ain’t finnished I’m devoted, and you know it and you know it.’

Possibly the lyrics from a song or a message to a loved one, I just don’t know. Just Googled it. The lyrics are from a song by Kanye West called Black Skinhead. So there we have it. Enjoy.

2927. M32 roundabout J3 (207)

Silent Hobo, I have said countless times, manages to paint scenes and characters that represent the beating heart of the city of Bristol. He captures a mood so well through his observations and translates them into identifiable things about the city so that you can say ‘hey I get that’ when you see his work. I have a feeling although I can’t be 100 percent certain that the writing is by Logoe.

The main scene shows a fox (a famous Bristol fox) overlooking a cityscape where there is a lot of construction work taking place. There is a tree growing out of a cardboard box, maybe representing some kind of hope for the future.

The writing is in a slightly different style and since Logoe and Silent Hobo collaborate a lot, I am guessing that it is by Logoe and I think it spells out his name, but it is not entirely clear. A lovely collaboration from September 2019.

2683. M32 Spot (56)

I think that this is the second collaboration between Logoe and Haka in as many months, and both have apeared on this board under the M32 in the DIY skate spot. It is not often that I like my photographs, always something wrong with them, but I actually like this one, somehow the colours of the piece stand out well against the dark top and bottom, but have not been bleached out by the light to either side.

Logoe has written his name in his script style set on a rather nice red tone abstract background. He has added to the work the sentence ‘What a year it’s been’ and he is not wrong there.  On the right Haka has included a character into his chrome writing which I believe to be Hanna Barbera’s creation Quick Draw McGraw – a cartoon I don’t think I ever saw, but rather wish I had… I might have to consult with YouTube. All in all a most satisfying collaboration from these two established Bristol artists.
