  • I never thought I’d ever be writing about Liz Truss again in Natural Adventures. She was a busted flush, or so we all thought, but such is the arrogance of the right wing tory politicians in this country and their lack of self-awareness, that they will do anything for power. Jaw-dropping – this is the woman who single-handedly crashed our economy only a few months ago. Who does she think she is?
  • I predict that this might well be the straw that breaks the Tory camel’s back, and sincerely hope so. They have systematically destroyed our country, kept a kotowing working class in their place, dismantled our public services in preparation for privatisation and benefitted only the rich. The re-emergence of Truss will cause chaos in the party.
  • I predict a May 2023 general election.

  • I have been saying it for a while, and perhaps it is wish fulfilment, that there will be a general election before Christmas. For this to happen, there will need to be a collapse in the government, because they will not be holding a vote of no confidence. As I see it, I don’t think we are too far away from crippling coordinated strike action, short of a general strike, along with marches demanding an election.

I feel that the Conservative party, in their desperation to keep their seats, have completely misjudged the mood of the nation.

All but the most ardent Brexiteers have come to the realisation that Brexit was a con, and we have yet to see any tangible benefits and so far only disbenefits (for example, being over a barrel with international trade negotiations and withdrawal of free movement (causing havoc for farmers and hospitality)).

There is still rage that Johnson and his cosy mates partied during lock down, and those who lost loved ones without being able to say goodbye will never forget.

I wonder how many of the 60 Tory MPs who resigned their posts, will again resign if Johnson were to be elected. Any who do not are hypocrites.

I don’t believe that the financial markets will be able to trust this Government. It is still the same people and their reputation for financial management, and the concept of ‘trickle down’ economics, is down the toilet, the damage is done.

Watch this space.

• The Conservative party are about to impose a Prime Minister on the electorate, one we haven’t elected, from a field of candidates all trying to out ‘right wing’ each other. Has ever a bar been set so low?

All I can hope for is that they can’t go on hoodwinking and deceiving the public forever. Bring on a General Election now!

939. Upfest 2017 (13)

You can be pretty sure that when Goin takes to the street, the work he produces will have an edge and political aspect. His piece for Upfest was no exception this year. He has created a large monochrome stencil of a traditional working-class paperboy holding up a newspaper with the words ‘Bullshit’s Tories’.

I believe that Goin is French and this might give us a clue to the slightly curious wording. It is obviously an anti-Tory slogan, but doesn’t quite read right. It matters not one jot though, because it is pretty overt either way, and the piece is really powerful.

I like Goin’s work a lot, but was very slack last year, and missed out on his main Upfest piece. It was slightly off the main drag, and by the time I went to photograph it, it had gone. Not this year.
