I haven’t seen anything from Run Z for a little while, so it was good to come across this great abstract piece in the little foot tunnel in New Stadium Road. This is a favourite haunt for Deamze, Soke and Voyder, but others come here too.

Run Z always brings something refreshing in his work as it is unlike most of the rest of the street art in the city. His patterns and exceptional colour choices set his work apart from the writers and character painters. He joins the small band of abstract artists whose work I love to see.
There seems to be no stopping Soker at the moment, it seems that everywhere I go in Bristol there is a new piece by him. What this means is that there will be several posts following this one in the near future featuring his work.

I rather like this one in the foot tunnel under the M32 spot, and for once my photographs aren’t too polluted with the awkward light conditions that seem to be omnipresent on this wall. I like the colours – blue and yellow/gold are always a strong combination, but what I really like about this piece is the kind of effortlessness it conveys, Soker just seems to be, like several of his ASK fellows, an artist at the top of his game.
Another day, another Deamze piece…his work rate is really phenomenal and the quality of his designs and their execution is unparalleled. It is easy to become blazé about his work, because his standard is so consistent, but if you take a good look at this piece, there is so much to admire.

The colour selection works well with yellow tones set on a blue background. There is a lot of intricacy to the interlocking letters and precision in the shapes. Yet another outstanding example of this incredible talent.
This spot is always impossible to photograph – I think the only solution is to come down at dusk and use a flash, and if I am honest I’m not sure I am fanatical enough to do that. The piece is, of course, by Deamze and shows off his angular puzzle-like wildstyle writing really well.

As is often the case, I am not at all sure who the character is, and think it might possibly be a figment of his fertile imagination. It feels strange, but of all the most productive Bristol artists painting at the moment, I still have yet to meet Deamze – our paths just haven’t crossed. I have a feeling he likes to keep himself to himself. Yet another consistently good piece.
I don’t visit this spot very often as it is slightly out of the way and I need to find time to get there, park up etc in my very busy family schedule. Often I find that going to the recycling centre (tip) is a good excuse for taking a bit of time out, but on this occasion my wife had to do some shopping locally and offered to drop me off…never one to pass up an opportunity I accepted the offer.

Lucky that I took a look, because I found this rather nice pairing of Whyasyit and Kleiner Shames who used to spray a lot together until KS moved to London a little over a year ago. Both artists have such unique styles which once you get your eye in are easy to identify.

I like it when two or more artists use common colours and background and do their thing. Kleiner shames always write FOIS, and for a long time I thought it was the artist’s name…early posts refer to him as Fois. His lines ans designs have what I would call an ’80s deco feel about them (I know what I mean by this, but you might not).

Whysayit seems to be forever busy on the streets writing YSAE with similar ‘handwriting’ but always with creative and imaginative backgrounds and fills. Two great writers who work well together.
In a little pedestrian tunnel, under the M32 motorway are a couple of really great walls. Great for spraying that is…less great for photographing. This is yet another wonderful collaboration piece from Deamze and Voyder, who always seem to work with Deamze on the left and Voyder on the right. I don’t know if this is a deliberate or subconscious thing, but it is pretty much always the case.

What is particularly captivating about these pieces is the white subject on a pillarbox red background. Deamze has worked a particularly nice bit of wildstyle writing with an interesting cartoon character who looks a little like Captain Klutz from MAD magazine, but isn’t.

Someone out there probably knows who it is. I love the angular style of this piece and the limited colour range. It is a fine piece.

It is becoming very difficult to describe Voyder’s work these days, as I feel he has hit such a high level, and that veach work pushes boundaries and demonstrates his command of his craft.

This is such a beautifully constructed piece and resembles a paper cut out. It is such a pity the photograph just doesn’t do it justice. That red just sets the piece off perfectly.
Pretty much without exception, all of Laic217’s pieces harbour menace to a greater or lesser extent. Even though much of his work is weird, and he specialises in facial distortions, this one is weirder than most.

The fly is grotesque – a bluebottle of sorts. An interesting thing going on is the ‘fly’ is feeding on what looks like a steaming poo which makes up the numbers 217. I hope this is a joke and not some subconscious self-esteem issue.

Even though the image is quite disgusting, you really have to admire a creature of horror movie proportions wearing a bucket hat with a smiley on it. Acid wins the day. A trippy piece?
There was a time when every few posts that I wrote was another work from the productive master of writing – Deamze. He is still as productive as ever, but his pieces are having to compete for space with the dozens and dozens of other Bristol artists that I try to cram into this website.

As with so many of his pieces, I am not too sure who the cartoon critter is. I thought at first it might be Wally Gator, but it isn’t…it appears to be a dragon. Any ideas? Another classy piece from the Bristol master
