2131. M32 roundabout J3 (136)

I said that there would be more from Decay, and by gum I am a man of my word. It feels like he is enjoying a new lease of life, and not only with writing letters, but also with his colour selections – less so perhaps in this piece but generally he appears to be using more colours in his work.

I think I might have to approach him and ask if he would be prepared to do an interview, because I think his story is likely a very interesting one. Note to self – get of arse and message Decay. More still to come from Decay.

2127. M32 roundabout J3 (135)

From a couple of weeks ago, this is a fine piece from Zake, whose work has definitely come out into the open after a gestation period in the partial light of the columns at the M32 Spot. I often wonder what his characters would look like with the pupils of their eyes drawn in, their absence gives them a somewhat aloof aura, deliberate of course.

The happy face, I suspect is about to get a whole load happier judging from the pill on his tongue. I know little of such matters so have to make assumptions. I am really enjoying the evolution and exposure of Zake’s work.

It is always great fun to see how street artists can play with each other’s work. For example, this piece is not a collaboration, it is an add-on. The original work was a RAW collaboration the centrepiece of which was this fabulous character by Jaksta.

Turnover on this wall has been unusually high this spring and when ‘the monday club’ a group of artists including Nevergiveup, Tasha Bee, Soap, Run Z and Zake set about painting here, Nevergiveup worked around Jaksta’s piece almost like a respect thing, his bunnies leaning in towards the character, together with a carefully, thoughtfully resprayed background.

Often Jaksta’s characters are well known film stars or personalities, but I’m not sure I know who this is. What we have here is two pieces for the price of one… and some more bunnies for the collection.

2118. M32 roundabout J3 (135)

Yet another remarkable Sled One piece that almost got away. This end of the M32 wall is near a tree, and for most of the day, on sunny days, the wall is dappled with sunlight and Shad, which renders it almost impossible to photograph successfully. I had to return a couple of times to catch it on a rather more overcast day to capture it in all its glory.

Sled One appears to churn out these extraordinary pieces with such ease, although I expect that is not the case at all… perhaps the mark of an artist at the top of his game. In Bristol right now, Sled One is probably the greatest story teller through his art, every piece containing a strong visual narrative (is that a thing?). I’m not too sure what the story is here, but the man in the ‘D’ of SLED appears to be running away from something. Always great to find pieces by this gifted artist.

There has been a recent spate of graffiti writing from Corupt in recent weeks and this is a piece from the M32 roundabout is probably the pick of the bunch.  His work is interesting in that it tends to have quite a wide span from quick and dirty throw-ups to rather more considered and well executed pieces like this one.

Corupt is one of those artists who just likes to get out and paint (I guess that is actually a condition of most street artists). One of the things I have noticed about his work is that he often paints high up, which generally means his work hangs around much longer because most overwriting happens lower down the wall. This is a cheerful and sunny piece looking good in the late winter sunshine.

There is no getting away from the fact that Smak is a brilliant graffiti artist and character street artist. He is also going through what I would call a productive and creative phase. This lovely piece of graff writing is on one of the walls at the M32 roundabout which seems to have quite a high turnover at the moment.

The colour selection set on a black background is superb, and the little yellow flashes make the piece stand out just that little bit more. It’s amazing what these guys can do with a spray can.

2077. M32 roundabout J3 (131)

I’m not sure that I’ve posted anything from Ryder for a little while, but that ends here with this recent piece on the M32 roundabout which appears to have been sprayed during something of a paint jam at the end of February.

High quality letters as always which I’ll have to leave you to feast your eyes on because I have to get togged up for skiing… sorry about that.

2064. M32 roundabout J3 (130)

Mr Klue is on a roll and there can be no question about that. His wispish abstract pieces are turning up with extraordinary regularity, especially in the vicinity of St Werburghs and the M32 roundabout. One of the things he usually takes great care with is the preparation of the wall before he starts his work, because the background is an integral part of his style.

In a sense some of his work, like this one, is less abstract than first meets the eye. If you look very carefully, you can make out the letters KLUE in this piece, but you’d probably have to be looking for it to see it.  Another great effort from Mr Klue, and one of several lined up to post.

2062. M32 roundabout J3 (129)

Panskaribas is my favourite ‘discovery’ so far this year, and this piece is slap bang next door to the first piece of his that I found, in fact you can just see the edge of it to the right of the picture.

His pieces have what I would call a sophisticated doodle style to them that feel like a mash-up between a cartoonist and a cubist… cuboonist maybe. I have absolutely no idea whatsoever is going on in this piece, but I am intrigued by the hand on the piano keyboard and by the main character’s facial features. So much more to come from Panskaribas.

Another one that slipped through the net is this melting face piece by Laic217 from a time when he was experimenting with these kinds of facial distortions and disfigurements, back in February 2017.

Although it is only a small piece, sandwiched between two bits of graffiti writing, it demands to be looked at, and why not…this is the kind of piece that typifies the work of this Polish adopted son of Bristol. Melting face, bucket hat, smilie face smoking… all trademarks used by Laic217. Another fine piece.
